Default Samsung HP-S4253 Plasma TV Problems

Ive been having serious problems with my Samsung plasma 6th months after buying it. Its been a year now and ive exhausted what i think it could be. As you can see from my screens a blue line appears on the left side of the tv distorting the pixels. It seems to only appear after watching for a half hour to an hour and isn't constant. It fluctuates in a wavy manner sometimes being very small and sometimes very large.

I have a 4 year Best Buy warranty that can handle any repairs but i have not called it in because i feel like if i give it to them they will tell me there is no problem because the problem doesnt appear instantly.

I dont know many technical things about hdtvs but at one point i thought it could possibly be interference from something and at others i thought it could be temperature, but after turning everything off in my room and just the tv on it didnt go away. Also, after reviewing my manual i can see that i am well within temperature range.

My tv,xbox, direct tv reciever, and old sony dvd/surround reciever are all plugged into a flatscreen monster home theater powercenter.

I would really appreciate help with this. If you guys can provide it then i will be very grateful.

Have you tried sticking your hand through there? Maybe it's created some type of dimension X portal place to an unknown galaxy.

Are you experiencing this from all sources? (Xbox, cable box and dvd player) If not it could be an issue with one of your components or connections. A friend of mine just had to exchange his Samsung LCD due to a similar issue. His had a wavy line that would start at the bottom of the screen and work its way up about 6 inches up the screen before disappearing. It would happen every 15 to 20 minutes or so. He ended up taking the TV back to Circuit City and they exchanged it and he has had no problems since.

I have 2 samsungs...1 52" and 1 42" LCD
Never any problems at all...I do have the 4 year service plan with best buy

If i was you...Call them out...Turn it on and try to show them...If it doesnt happen then show them the pictures just have maybe the recent dates on the pictures...if you can...probably doesnt matter....But then they can see what your saying is wrong..And tell them when it usually happens...They can take alook at what you got going on...far as plug ins...And they have to fix it...If you got the service plan..Either that or you get a new tv..Dont just sit there and keep something your not happy with...That tv costed money that you earned ya know...Let me know how it goes if you call them. I might need to one day myself. GOOD LUCK

It does happen on every input. The weird thing about it is it doesnt happen every 15-20 minutes it just happens randomly, i can go for hours and it wont happen. Maybe il get in store credit and i can exchange it for a kuro. That would be amazing but i am sure they will find some way to fix it.

I would go in to/call Best Buy and let them know the problems you are having with it. Hopefully they will offer to replace it instead of fixing it. If they do I would ask them if they would just give you store credit so you can pick up the Pioneer you referred to or even on of the new Panasonic plasmas! Either way good luck and keep us posted on how it turns out.

I called them up and they have scheduled a vist to my house on wednesday. I dont understand what they are going to come and do because the problem doesnt show up instantly and sometimes it doesnt show up at all. I feel like its going to be a waste of my time, but il keep the pictures so i can show them the problem since they probably wont see it themselves.

The best buy repair person came today and he told me the problem i was having is called Image Retention. The cause of it seemed to be that i play alot of xbox games and such and he also pointed out that its a common problem with plasmas that doesnt always happen, surprised i havent heard of it then. All i have to do to fix it is put a white screen on the tv for around 24 hours.
