I can't be the only person who adores this over the top superhero movie. The DVD page says its in pan-scan. I would love to buy it and see it for the first time in widescreen HD if that's even possible.

The original DVD was a dual-sided disc with widescreen on one side and a fullscreen on the other. Wasn't uncommon for Sony to drop the widescreen version on later pressings and still retain the old UPC which made it increasingly difficult to locate the original pressings.

EDIT: I should probably add that a vast number of DVD listing of older titles here at the Blu-ray.com database are incomplete and incorrect regarding aspect ratio so the situation with Sony swapping a WS/FS disc for a FS one may not apply in this case. The Blankman DVD entry is certainly a contender for a fact check! As always, don't rely 100% on the specs here.

I thought that may be the case. I saw bits of it the other day, and it was pan-scan. Not quite sure what you think of the movie though.

I actually love this movie and would buy it on Blu in a second, even if Twilight Time released it!

Ok it would have to be like 15 bucks at most lol.

I've never bought any twilight time releases.

Hilarious movie. Like someone mentioned, it's a crapshoot trying to find the widescreen dvd and so I just got an old laserdisc of it.

I have an original DVD release of Blankman (full frame on one side, widescreen on the other), is that the only way to watch it in widescreen? I'm curious to know if there is any other releases in widescreen?

Does yours have the original chapter index paper? I'm just curious to see if the DVD is rarer with the chapter index paper, (because I do have the paper).
