Terminator 2 DVD and BR question... - Blu-ray Forum

Hey, I've owned the special ed. of the DVD for Terminator 2 for a while (the one that came in the metal case...), and while I haven't viewed it in a long time I remember the surround mix was kinda screwed up (certain channels too low/too loud, etc.). I was wondering if anyone else has owned both versions (DVD and BR), and what your impression of the BR is.

First of all, there were two special editions that came in metal cases (Ultimate and the Extreme). Second, what do you mean by "certain channels too low/too loud?" You mean your right surround loudspeaker appears louder than the left during this title?

It's the Extreme Edition (the one w/ the terminator's "robot" head prominent on the cover). by Too low/too loud, I would say the discrepancy was more between dialogue and surrounds, dialogue and mains. dialogue seemed too low and "echo-y" compared to the other channels. and yes, I DID try adjusting the setting on each channel from my receiver (even thought the "normal" settings I'm comfortable w/ tend to work well w/every other movie I own, and needs no adjustment), and yes, I did NOT have any "matrix" surround processing going on.
My main concern was that this issue wasn't present on the BR edition, since I would like to get it sometime soon.

I've got the Extreme Ed. and I have to say it's one of the best sounding DVD on my set-up. Check again your system calibration (all channels at reference level from listening position), otherwise it could just be a matter of taste. I'm sure the filmmakers re-mixed it exactly the way they wanted it.
