Default "Rocketman" - Tom Hardy starring as Elton John

I would never have considered Hardy for the role, but I'm interested to see what he does with the part.

Quote:
Tom Hardy ("The Dark Knight Rises," "Inception") is now officially confirmed to be starring as Elton John in the biopic "Rocketman" at Rocket Pictures and Focus Features.

Lee Hall ("Billy Elliot," "War Horse") penned the script which will combine the true story of John's life with fantastical elements from his songs.

The film will start with his life at age 11 and continue through adulthood with his songs providing musical backing. Hardy's deal was closed after a lengthy search to cast the role.

Michael Gracey directs the film which begins shooting next Fall. Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish will produce.

Because Tom Hardy has only done that one film right?

That's ridiculous. That's like saying they are turning Captain Phillips into a crossdresser

I happen to like Tom Hardy, and if he can get a little pudgy(not trying to insult a legend), it should work great.

He has mumbled in more than one movie. It is only getting worse with each one. Don't get me wrong, Hardy can be great but he is veering towards a mumbler now. Hope he doesn't keep on doing it.

Can Hardy sing or play the piano? That is what made "Walk the Line" so good. Phoenix and Witherspoon performed beyond expectations.

Absolutely! I found his mumbling out of control in Star Trek: Nemesis as well! I didn't understand a word he was saying! And he had that phoney British accent, which was such a cheap imitation of Picard!

I wonder if this is going to be done via some trippy musical numbers, such as what was done in Across the Universe?

He can rap. Does that count?
