Default Predictions for Iron Man's opening weekend?

Paramount originally predicted $45-$55 million but has since updated $60-$70 million. Today they announced that they were going to start the showings on Thursday the 1st at 8pm.

I think it'll do very well. It looks like it's got a little something for everyone.

First of all.
Thanks for the poll!
Also, I picked the over 70,000 mark. I have a feeling the reviews are going to great. Downey just seems like he nailed the part. I am really interested in seeing what Favreau does for this movie as the director. I'm sure it will be great. Definitely seeing it opening weekend. This May will be fun... In fact all of summer!!!

I went ahead and marked down $50-$60. I think that opening at 8 on Thursday will give it an extra $10 million. I think America is ready for some escapism. I agree this summer will be great.

I voted over $70 million. I think people are ready for the Summer movie season to start. So far, 2008 has been a crapfest. The buzz is very good on this movie. It's an easy candidate for the $200 million club and has 2 weeks to rack up before Prince Caspian shows up.

The budget is $180 million, so it needs a huge opening.

I voted 60-70 but I also will not be contributing to this one. Not that I don't wanna see it, not that I don't think it is not gonna be good. Its the fact that I will be playing GTAIV . In all seriousness though, I will likely see it in theatres, but I like to avoid the jackass crowd of opening weekend, I prefer not to have cellphone talking/texting and a running commentary from the moron behind me on how awesome it is, although when I saw Bourne Ultimatum at a second run theatre the commentary from the guy behind me was hilariously enjoyable, but hey I only paid 2.50 to see it.

What happened to all of the people who were "boycotting" paramount movies because they had left BD?

yeah, this year has been a crapfest, hopefully this is a good movie, I have high hopes for it. I'm probably one of the few who enjoyed the animated feature Iron Man, looking forward to the live action take...

Think there's anything to Paramount's fears that GTAIV will detract from Iron Man's opening?

simple question... I just thought the context of your statement was alluding to a movie coming out the same weekend. No need to be a dick...

Who voted $20-$30 million? It should earn around that much on Friday.
