Thanks for sharing that Taro. It would be great to see that in HD with a 5.1 lossless audio! Let's hope this does come to Blu-ray. I hope somebody can answer your question and keep us informed.

The Song Remains The Same has been released on Blu Ray, and this concert hasn't... not logical. It was much harder for Page to release TSRTS because it was shot on film (unlike this concert) and contains a plethora of overdubs. It is a sinecure to release this concert on DVD/Blu...

I was at the concert, so I'd buy this in a heartbeat!
I can remember some feedback issues at the beginning of the concert though, might be a reason?

Perhaps it is because the performance is quite lacking on everyone's part....but especially ol' Percy, who sounds simply awful.

The Song Remains The Same is NOT imho any representative of Led Zeppelin in concert. I saw them that same exact tour in Tampa, FL and when I saw this movie in the theater I walked out. I did buy the newer version of TSRTS on DVD for 2 reasons, 1, it had the original Tampa news cast (the beginning of the 02 concert) and the song, Celebration Day on the special features. I'm a Zep fan on face book and wrote that Jimmy needs to release the 02 concert on Blu Ray. This is a no brainer and would rather have the 02 concert on Blu Ray than the Zep DVD rereleased on Blu Ray.

I assume this is why they have not released it. I mean honestly how good was it? They certainly could not have been anywhere near what they used to be.........was the show even worth releasing as far as the performance goes? I love Zep as much as anyone, but I am guessing they were pretty rusty and they are getting OLD! I am guessing both Plant and Page are a token of what they once were which is just the unfortunate reality of the aging rock star more times than not

Here is a review of the Third Eye Productions DVD: http://www.collectorsmusicreviews.co...e-productions/

I assume that this is a bootleg.

You can also find most of the songs from this show on Youtube. Also, if you Google "Led Zeppelin O2 Arena Third Eye DVD" there are lots of different choices.

I would love to get this on blu-ray. Even if the performance is a little rough, I'm pretty sure that the A/V quality would be excellent.

The entire 02 Arena concert is available on Youtube, all 3 hrs and 40ish mins of it! Most people agree that they were not there former selfs until about 5 or 6 songs into the concert. Age has nothing to do with their performance, ANYTHING would be better than The Song Remains The Same, oh, and Live Aid to!! From what I heard on Youtube they had the magic like old times, especally In My Time Of Dying and Kasmir and this is listening on crappy computer speakers!

That is great to hear (besides the first 5-6 songs)! Glad I am wrong! Lets get this released on blu then for crying out loud!

For people who have seen this show, are you telling me JP can still shred like he did in the mid 70s? I find it very hard to believe that he can still play like that, but again I would love to be wrong!

Look, the really great players are like wine, they get better with age.

As for Page specifically, he hasn't, but only because he was never that great to begin with.

But his former bandmate from the Yardbirds, Jeff Beck, proves beyond question that age has nothing to do with it. Then again, Jeff is merely the greatest player alive, bar none. Heck, even Page, Clapton, Gilmour, etc., ALL of them say Jeff is the best.

I'd buy this show though, mainly to see Plant and JPJ (now there's a musical talent !) ...

I was just stating what "experts" have said. I think the whole thing sounded great. As for Jimmy playing like he used to? Watch it for your self and let me know what you think. And to Jimmy...Let's go, screw the lawyers and whoever else has there hand in the kitty and release this concert! Remember the fans? The one's that got you to where you are at now? Think of us!

Its very subjective...........but I disagree with a lot of your post. As far as Rock guitarists go in particular, age can (not always) absolutely have a negative impact and I have seen this first hand with the Grateful Dead. Jerry Garcia in the 90s was a token of what he was in the 70s. There are many other examples........

Page not that good to begin with?!?.............. You are crazy. Page can get a bit sloppy, but his raw power, talent and ability to conjure feeling and emotion is incredible. I would go as far as saying Page is a genius on the guitar and musically in general.

Jeff Beck is certainly not my choice for "greatest player alive", so this is also very subjective. Beck is obviously a very accomplished player and great from a technical perspective, but his playing does very little for me personally/emotionally. I would put a number of guitarists above Beck for that title including Trey and Tommy Emmanuel. Becks playing to me is "dry" if I had to describe it and he simply does not speak to me musically, but again this is VERY subjective and crowning a "best player alive" will depend on who you ask............

Getting back on track, I was talking to a few friends last night who play in a band about this reunion Zep show. These guys are big Zep heads and their take on this reunion show was not very positive. Page they say is not what he used to be, Plant the same, JPJ was the most impressive of the original cast according to them and then went on to tell me about his newer band "Them Crooked Vultures" which sounds very interesting after checking out a few vids and reading up. According to them though, it was about what you would expect musically for a reunion show and it was a bit rough to say the least. Just their opinion, but I found it interesting considering their Zep knowledge base/infatuation (on Halloween, they did a 3 set ALL Led Zed cover show that was incredible!) and how talented they are themselves musically.

Curious to see this myself, but I am going in very cautiously optimistic to say the least.

I would have to say that Page in the studio is a genius. But, Page live onstage? Well, he shows exactly why most bands have two guitarists. The bottom drops out of the rythym every time he solos, and his solos (live) are not that impressive.

I've been a rock musician since the late 70's, and I have to say, in my opinion:

Page in the studio = GENIUS

Page onstage = excessive, sloppy, and so self-indulgent (Dazed & Confused live solo) that I just can't stand him live.

He butchers his own material onstage far more often than he shines....always has.

I pretty much agree with that. I would only say that there are PLENTY of excellent, non slop Page performances I have heard live on the various bootlegs and dvds I own..........so he is far from always sloppy. There are plenty of jaw dropping solos' I have heard as well, and yes there are the sloppy ones at the same time...........hit and miss, but when its a hit, its a mind blower IMHO.

Personally, even with the slop, he is still one of my favorite live guitar players. Again though, music is very subjective.
