Default Classic example of why it never made sense to stock up on HD DVD

How many times did you hear why it made sense to buy liquidated HD DVD products? Read this guy's experience....the problem is only going to worsen. They'll be fewer and fewer working players over time with no support...just lots of discs.

$800 player, 2 years, and only amassed 33 movies..... wow... I guess he was just getting the releases he really liked?? I didn't pay $800 for my PS3, but purchased 30 Blus within the first two days, mostly catalogs

It was lame that they were all excited buying up these amazing liquidation sales...

Within a year, you'll be able to find most Blu-ray movies used or on sale new for the same price as all the "hot" HD DVD sales. That's not even touching the lifespan of relatively untested hardware.

Yes, it will only get worse, Toshiba's commitment notwithstanding.

All HD DVD players sent in for repair are being declared unfixable. I believe in part to clear out the piles of decks they have in the warehouses and use them for tax writeoffs
