Default Picking Blu-ray over HD DVD is more like common sense

Good day. I've been browsing this forum for well over 2 years but didn't bother to register until now.

Back in 05 I did some exstensive researching regarding both formats. To this day, Im still baffled as to why this war is actually still going on after looking at the amount of support between both formats. This rant will probley be nothing new but I just want to add my 2 cents.

What I don't understand is the amount of bandwagoning, fanboys, and propaganda spreaded all threw internet thanks to people who are stubborn and produce invailed critisim regarded nothing but baised subjectivism based on that persons preference instead of being aware of what actually matters the most.

Support.

In clear bold letters. I've heard what the HD-DVD camp has to say. Price is a contributing factor. Yes it is, but price is something you should be looking at last before you make any sort of judgement. Some people throw money out the window like it even exists on products they barely research upon. When it comes to wars such as this, the most important thing to check is what companies are backing what, not the price, and not the specifications. If the support is there, you should care.

How many companies are backing Blu-ray? 100+? and HD-DVD only 30+/-? It's not even funny. Nearly the entire industry is backing blu ray. There is more supply and demand for Blu-ray then there is for HD-DVD. Sure, most of the sales indicate that the majoraty chose Blu-ray but support speaks the loudest above all. It's not about prefrence. It is common sense as saying 1+1=2.

Price is bragged about for HD-DVD only because it's a lesser supported perpriatory format. What's worse is paying for a obsolete format then paying for something that is eventually (Suppose to) win the format war.

Since when was Paramount and Universial the entire studio industry anyway? I understand that winning them back might end the format war quicker but we have nearly every media producer and electronic company. What we already have is a complete blow out. Not a close call, a blowout.

It makes me sick why this is still going on. Can't they just ring the bell already so I can finally jump on the HD-World?

We don't need to convince you, as your post shows me you already did all the thinking for yourself.

Your post may sound doubtful, but in between the lines, I can tell you already love BLU-RAY

So go out there tomorrow and buy yourself a PS3 and cash in your 5 free Blu-Rays. If you want more, there's an incredible amazon deal with 8 discs and a remote.

Mind you, Blu-Ray give aways aren't the same as HD-DVD ones, we are making it easier for the consumer and doing it for the love our format.....on the other hand, HD-DVD is just doing a fire sale before it's too late.

Default indeed

sometimes you have to take a stand for what you believe in ,I was on the fence post for a bit but i chose blu because of the facts and the support,we need more fence sitters like yourself to step up for a format you believe in. if we just convince one other person and that person tells another person and it keeps going hopefully this format war could be ended ,but we know larger forces are at work here .............
and you know who you are (M$,Paramount,Universal,Toshiba)
go with your gut, demand better ,go blu and let your voices be heard!

Welcome to the forums as a poster. I read that Uni/Paramount have 24 percent of the market. They do have a number of blockbuster titles.

I don't see how HD-DVD can pull off anything given the limitations. They are banking on the psychological tactics of deprivation and manipulation of the consumer.

I would've got behind blu-ray just based on it's superior tech specs! The CE/studio support is just the icing on the cake.

You can rest assured now but I'll say this, Choosing blu-ray wasn't about picking sides in my opinion. If your just getting into the Hi-Def, You as a consumer shouldn't have to sit there with your thumbs twitling. (This is mostly directed towards the average joe).

Blu-ray wasn't a choice, it was a done deal (Ok, this side has more support. It wins. The End.) Im just furious with the ever so persistant HD-DVD camp that simply cannot throw in the towel.

Im a owner of the previous 2 playstations so I will eventually get myself a PS3but Im also saving up some of that extra cash to dish out on a nice HD Television set. For now, im sitting back for just a bit longer.

As in all of Hollywood? 24% is alot but still 76% short of what the statistics for the rest of the studios if you don't include Warner. You do the math.

Since Japan is a major player in this, despite anime doesn't make as much of a profit in the states compared to hollywood movies, it's a worthy mention next to other foregin films.
