Default problem using ps3 with Onkyo 605. help appreciated

I'm the first to admit I'm totally incompetent when it comes to most things electronic. So here's the problem; I'm attempting to run my PS3 to my Onkyo 605 receiver to a Pioneer Kuro television...

I have my HDMI cable running from the PS3 to the "In" for the Onkyo 605 and another HDMI cable running from the "Out" to my television. I'm not even able to get a picture to come up on the television, but when I try running my HDMI directly from the PS3 to the television it works fine.

My PS3 settings are:
BD Audio output format HDMI: Linear PCM
BD Audio out format optical digital: linear pcm
BD Video output format HDMI: automatic

Do I just have to switch my Onkyo receiver to a different channel in order for it to work because I'm a bit lost to say the least? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You will need to go to setup on the receiver and assign the dvd to whichever HDMI you plugged the cable from the PS3 to. That should fix that for you.

Yup, and make sure to set HDMI Monitor to "ON."

Forgive me for coming across as completely stupid, but how can I get into the setup for the receiver if I can't view any image on my screeen?

you receiver will display what subheading you are in... Use the manual as a guide and you'll be able to turn the HDMI out to the "on" position, at which point you'll see everything.

OK, I was able to get the picture to work, but still no audio. Is there anything I need to adjust on the receiver or television for the audio to work?

I'm not sure what I adjusted in the set-up menu, but I'm relieved to say that the audio is now working. Thank you guys for taking the time to help a stranger out. I'm truly appreciative.
