My guess is "same price for all" translates to "Japanese price for all".

I would definitely buy more anime if it was reasonably priced. Look at the prices on DVD, they are more than double than regular movies or TV shows.

Its just ridiculous they mark up the prices so high.

Definately not, since the existing price is $39.99 per episode for the HD DVD

Anime is on the downswing around the world because the fans replacing the dropoffs from the pool don't buy DVDs, they download everything. You can't compete with free.

Apples and oranges. TV box sets are selling already paid for material essentially for pure gravy. A hit TV box set will sell hundreds of thousands. A hit anime DVD will sell 30,000. You're also failing to factor in acquistion (as much as $50,000/episode), royalties, translation, dubbing, and general overhead all of which must be paid for. The average anime DVD is selling under 10,000 copies.

ding ding ding you got it every country is going to have that same price for it as the Japanese copy so which means if they sell it for $30 U.S. in Japan then same no matter where you go

Discotek Media - yes, THAT one - is releasing the entire series on BD/DVD next month. Pre-order price from Rightstuf is $20 or so. The A/V will likely be inferior to the Bandai release due to putting multiple episodes on each disc, so grab the OOP Bandai release if you want the best A/V and extras that likely won't be in this newer release.

Perhaps it'll be the same encode as in the UK release?

Freedom was the first anime Blu-ray release I bought.

I bought this when it came out, began watching it today, and discovered that it has the same audio issues as GITS: SAC, also sourced from the wreckage of Bandai Entertainment USA. I have the older Bandai release that I picked up in a Fire Sale from RightStuf, so I can see if the audio there is botched, but I don't think it is or we would have heard by now.
