Exclamation The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe: Reviews and Reactions Thread

Movie: 4/5
PQ: 4.5/5

Just mentioned the special features/extras since a lot of blu-ray discs don't get very good scores on the extras.

He mentions that there is a $10 rebate coupon included as well.

Quote:
I also wanted to mention that there is the $10 rebate coupon in the package which was previously offered on other recent Blu-ray upgrades from sDVD. NATIONAL TREASURE (to be released a week after NARNIA) is also going to be part of this rebate offer.

With a $10 rebate I will have to upgrade to the BD version on the week of release. Very good info.

$10 coupon included?! Sweet - I have the DVD version. This is definitely a first-day buy from Best Buy, along with Master and Commander on the same day. Geez, I love Blu-ray.

Great news!

Can't wait to get this on blu - the DVD is ok but those epic scenes should be much better on BLU. Also, can't wait to hear the lossless audio!

Ditto, this should be a treat in the PQ/AQ department.

But why is Disney going down the hill by featuring extras at 480i/p like they did for Enchanted ? Are they putting themselves under pressure to roll out many titles ?

I feel like this film will look spectacular in blu, but as far as content is concerned, I thought it was lacking. It was maybe just a little too kiddie. Or maybe, I just didn't like any of the acting... I might pick it up on a BOGO....

Two possible reasons: no disc space, or the extras were shot using SD cameras.

Narnia extras were done SD

I'm more pissed about these upgrade coupons. At least Sony has moved their proof of purchase to this tiny nail size bitty in the corner. FOr Disney they're still at the top in the middle and honkingly big

Course that might just be their way of trying to stop us from cashing in too

Some of them are pretty long also (although I don't know if that matters or not).

Disc one
480i: bloopers

1080p: previews

N/A: 2 audio commentaries
N/A: pop-up facts during the movie about C.S. Lewis and the books

Disc two
480i: 38 minutes - Chronicles of a Director
480i: 26.5 minutes - The Children's Magical Journey
480i: 55 minutes - Cinematic Storytellers
480i: 19 minutes - Anatomy of a Scene
480i: 54 minutes - Creating Creatures

1080p: 3.5 minutes - From One Man's Mind
1080p: 13.5 minutes - Creatures of the World

N/A: 3-D map - Explore Narnia, with narration and illustrated examples (drawings, film clips)
N/A: BD-Java role playing game - Battle for Narnia

HTF states 143 mins.

As per this site http://www.ultimatedisney.com/narnia-lion-extended.html the extended version is 150 mins.

No. They're just releasing the original theatrical cut. Which is why I'll probably pass on upgrading.

So glad it's the theatrical cut. The extended cut sucked. The additions were mostly pointless, and stuck out like a sore thumb. If the extended cut is never released again, it won't break my heart.

Studios are the same as ever. Give us the theatrical version now and make their money. Then a year or two later, rerelease the movie with the extended edition.

As sadly as it sounds, I have not yet seen Narnia. I saw the trailor for Narnia 2 in theaters and was going to pick up Narnia to get caught up, but then heard about the BD release and have since held off. So yes, I too cannot wait for Narnia to come on BD. It will be a 1st time movie watch at the BD quality level.

And it comes out on my bday!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!

Exactly, though I am still buying this. Just expect this fall to have the new Narnia Extended Edition to coincide with the BD release of Prince Caspian. And drat on the coupon, just sold my copy of Narnia Extended for $15 online lol

Let's hope some of us don't get the same "PO Box Closed" issue we had with "The Rock" & "Crimson Tide." I still haven't gotten the rebate checks...
