Default G25 Wheel - What other games?

Call me crazy, but I'm half-considering buying the G25 racing wheel for GT5P.

I've looked at some less expensive wheels, but there isn't a clutch pedal (????).

Just wondering, are there any other good games to use this wheel for?

I guess this has metal pedals too. I'd hate to go cheap and break the wheel system.

dude your not crazy at all, I myself was thinking the same thing, driving myself crazy. I have played all racers and enjoyed many, but the jump from how real GT5 is over everything else, made me also consider one. This game, F1, Dirt, and that Grid that is coming is very tempting, I have it so bad now, I'm also looking into the frames to mount the steering wheel and pedals on, thats alot of money, but I would get my moneys worth. Not sure if I want to drop like 500 though. I have never had a steering wheel at home for a game, the only one I've ever had if anybody remembers was colecovisions, pole position steering wheel. Maybe I should treat myself

Glad I'm not alone. I almost clicked the complete order button at Amazon for the wheel and that evolution seat and 2 games and my insanity.

Think I'll start with the wheel and go from there. Whew.

Ill check back and see what you think. I also saw the seats on amazon, they are pretty, man that GT5 online racing is intense. I'm sure if I had the wheel and seat, I would play GT5 more then I already do, which would be insane.

thanks for the info, I was waiting to hear someones comments on this, wasn't sure if I would want to go the cheaper route. I wish gamestop had set-ups to test these wheels, then again gamestop would have to kick alot of people out of theirs stores.

I agree. I'm not a racing guy, but I want to be one.

After looking around I realized that anything less is just a waste. It's either get the G25 or just use the controller.

Guys get it already!

I have the G25 and the playseats evolution seat and all I have to say is in combo with GT5P they're incredible!

If you're on a tight budget though, I wouldn't exactly say that simply getting the lesser model, the Driving Force GT, is a complete waste of money. I tested both wheels before making decision and have to say that the Driving Force was pretty good and is still 10x better than a dualshock. It's just that the G25 was just top drawer all the way (slightly bigger, leather wrapped, aluminum pedals), like 13x better than a dualshock 3.

Of course this is all on the premise that you have a nice place to mount the thing on. A foldable dinner table will not suffice! If you have the time, inclination, and talent then you can build your own racing cockpit with some plywood, and a spare car seat.

I however just bought the Playseats Evolution of Amazon. It's very good in terms of stability, design, and ergonomics. There's a store on ebay who sells it cheaper than amazon (Check out Maxwho.com). You will need the g25 shifter mount sold seperately if you get the g25.

If you want a better seat, get the one by obutto: http://www.obutto.com/
Word on the racing forums I've read is that their better and similarly priced with the Playseats evolution. They quoted me $325 w/ shipping. They're out of stock though, till May 21-25.

Now my deepest wish is that somehow it can work with GTA4

And why would I call you crazy? The G25 is awesome. I wish I could justify buying one, I've already got a DFP and just spend a good chunk of change building a proper cockpit for it. Maybe in a year's time I'll upgrade...

Seriously though, it's one of the best wheels out there. There is absolutely no point in cheaping out and buying something like a Mad Catz wheel. The force feedback on the logitech DFP/DFGT/G25 wheels is unparalleled for the price. Check the Race Sim Central forums... you'll see that almost everyone has a G25... unless they've upgraded to Frex :P

The plastic pedals on the DFP aren't likely to break though. I'd say the primary reason for a G25 is the clutch, and the fact that the pedals are modular - meaning you can remove them from their housing and build an "inverted" pedal setup. Very nice.

By the way, give some serious thought how you're going to mount your wheel. I thought the pricing for the playseat was unreasonable, especially once they quoted me shipping to canada. So I built this instead:

I've added a floor and some finishing touches too. The guy who designed this also has plans for a shifter stand as well. Cost was <$150 minus the seat.

I bought the G25 when GT5P came out. Awesome!!! I can never play Gran Turismo with the controller again. It's a whole new experience with the wheel, paddle shifters, stick (sequential or six speed), and gas / brake / clutch. Very immersive experience.

Go for it!

I bought the G25 the day before GT5P came out. I'm planning to pick up F1 CE as well once I can find it on sale or decently priced used.

If you don't want a clutch, the DFP and especially new Logitech GT5 wheel are almost as good.

I'll wait for the reviews for the new GT5 wheel before deciding whether to upgrade to that or a G25.

Ferrari Challenge will be compatible with wheels, hopefully the G25 as well. Out at the end of next months also!

No clutch? Are you mad?

Might as well just race Minivans.

Is Ferrari Challenge coming out in the US? I see the UK release is soon, but IGN says it's "unreleased" in the US.

I just re-bought GT5P (US version this time) and won a sealed copy of Burnout on Ebay (shipped today).

I found F1 FE pre-owned at Gamestop for $24 last week, and it was in perfect shape. Keep looking around, it's well worth the search. I don't have the G25, but I have two Force GT wheels, and F1 CE is incredible with them, as is GT5P.

If I didn't already have two Logitech wheels, I'd buy the G25 in a heartbeat. Mine still perform great, so I can't justify the swap.
