I think it has to do with Copy Protection. Sony has AACS in addition to BD+ and ROM Mark. I'm sure that's causing some extra work to make sure everything is working properly.

When asked for a comment, a Sony Computer Entertainment America spokesperson only went on record saying that SCEI has not issued any official statement itself yet.

Nothing is official yet, this may just be yet another rumor added to the hundreds so far. Sony will be anouncing something very soon at 3pm wednesday which is just 3 hours from now central standard time. No one has confirmed this with Sony.

The perfect economy, would be companies that provide 'services' to (potential) consumers & nothing more and not exploit them... But that's just unreal.
