Default The Spiderwick Chronicles on BD?

Has anyone heard anything about Spiderwick coming to Blu-ray? My wife and I really enjoyed it and the movies and would really like to pick this up on Blu. Amazon has it coming to dvd in June.

A Rumor was going around recently that it just might be the first Paramount Blu Ray to be announced.
But June is coming in fast and nothing announced as of yet...

I know Amazon placeholders shouldn't give me any hope, but I'll cross my fingers anyway. This was indeed a pretty cool film - I enjoyed seeing it on IMAX. A day-and-date release with the DVD is still a possibility; if not then, I'm sure by Christmas this year.

Seemed like a good movie to start Blu with. Was wanting to check it out due to the inner kid in me!

It has a 6/24 DVD release date, but no BR date was given. According to Paramount's announcement they are not releasing anything on blu until July 22nd and this is not on the list. Real bummer

??????

I am assuming that you are referring to a recent article detailing UNIVERSAL's Blu-ray plans, and the announcement of "The Mummy" movies for July 22nd?

Also note that though "The Mummy" movies are announced for July 22nd, it doesn't mean that they will be Universal's first Blu-ray release as it appears "Doomsday" will be their first Blu-ray title. They have yet to announce this film for DVD or Blu-ray, but it will be coming in July.

It was the second announcement that made me think they were not starting until July. The SDVD and SEDVD have a June release date on Amazon.

Universal Details Plans For Blu-ray
Thu Apr 17, 2008 at 01:00 PM ET

Universal Studios is expected to announce plans today to begin issuing new release titles on Blu-ray starting this summer.

As reported by Reuters/Hollywood Reporter, the studio, which had been one of the staunchest supporters of the HD DVD format, is expected to announce the recent theatrical release 'Doomsday' as their inaugural Blu-ray title, with approximately 40 other films following in the latter half of the year.

Other titles singled out for Blu-ray release include the studio's upcoming films 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army,' 'The Incredible Hulk,' 'Wanted,' 'Mamma Mia,' and 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.' In anticipation of the new 'Mummy' film, Universal's first jump into the Blu-ray pool will come on July 22 with three films from the franchise, including the Brendan Fraser action adventures 'The Mummy,' 'The Mummy Returns,' and the spin-off 'The Scorpion King' starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Other titles mentioned for Blu-ray treatment include 'Land of the Dead, ' 'End of Days,' 'Knocked Up,' 'American Gangster,' 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin,' 'Miami Vice,' and 'U-571.'

Doug, The Spiderwick Chronicles is Paramount, not Universal.

Yeah, I mentioned in a previous post (on this thread) that you may have confused Universal with Paramount.

Ever since I read about this move in in Linux Journal I was hooked. It went through an 8K render for some of its FX shots and is a marvel of design in and of itself.
