Looks like so far after only a day or so, a full 32% of people intending to support Blu Ray, are going to do so via the PS3.
I am buying both a player as well as a Ps3 for my son....but also realise that barring a major scew up with the PS3 plans, its not a matter of if Blu Ray will win, its simply how quick will hd dvd's end come imo. I predict hd dv to not last too far into 07 after the PS3 puts millions of Blu Ray players into average homes who would other wise probably not be buying into hi res video for years. I also predict Universal Studios to be supporting Blu Ray just before the PS3 is released...if not sooner. |

I plan to use the PS3 for a Blu-ray player as well as a game machine. Till then, I am saving to buy a nice High def TV with the correct HDMI inputs since my current Tv isnt high def and my Digital projector doesnt have HDMI only Component, which I am glad to hear Sony say it will support.

Most likely, yes (or at least for 2 years).
Since, my family is only middle class in a third-world country, we can't afford to buy too much. So I guess we'll only stick to one for the meantime. |

Yes, I'm hoping E3 will demo the PS3's high def movie playback abilities and all being well I plan on using a PS3 as my entertainment hub.
HD movies, DVD's, CD's, music, photos and videos on the hard drive, games, connectivity with PSP, all sorts of online possibilities... IF it really delivers all this then I'll be pre-ordering as soon as I can. |

Same here. It hasn't been expressly deliberate, but I've noticed since this past Christmas or so...I've barely bought any DVD's and I've started to gradually weed out and filter out my collection. I know once I have a BR player of some kind in this house, I'm done buying DVD's for good, no matter what. |

Yes I am one of the masses who will be flocking to the PS3 for its Blu-ray playback, coupled with the fact that it will be the most powerful and probably also best supported games console on the market.
If my own motivations are anything to go by I think this combination is a very clever move on Sony's part. I have up until resisted the lure of the Playstation in any form - being a diehard Sega man the Dreamcast is still the most up to date games console I own. (I still have their Saturn and Megadrive too by the way!) However the combined lure of the gaming power it has, and the latest versions of at least 2 top Sega titles for the launch, coupled with that of high def Blu-ray playback all for just over £400 is too much to resist. I should like to invest in a "proper" Blu-ray machine in due course as the prices drop (<I hope!) but for now this represents a good first foot in the door and I suspect many of people feel the same way. |

I'm getting a black PS3 next year primarily for the sake of Next-gen Gran Turismo.
Long live the Gran Turismo series (screw PGR3 and Forza series to hell HAHA!!) Though I may get Forza next-gen for the X360 but ONLY FOR THE ASIAN VERSION (since they cost cheaper by around 20-40 dollars compared to US/Japan version games) I'm no Sony fan though (I do agree that MiniDisc is only so-so format) but I do agree on their move to announce the PS3 being region-free this time around. And since they mentioned it, I would have no need to bring it to the shop to have it modded. This time, it would be all original games for me (no more pirated/bootlegged this time around ![]() But maybe I'll wait for five-six months after the November 2006 launching so that the prices could drop a bit. I need to get a black-colored Nintendo Wii as well.... |

The PS3 will be my first BD player. After that, I will wait for a really nice high-end player (here's hoping Denon throws in after a year or two, or even better, OPPO makes one that is region free and converts PAL to NTSC). At that point I will also get a 1080p TV. I will probably end up buying more movies than games for the PS3 at first.

I can see myself buying more games initially too, but then that's half the reason for buying the PS3! A 1080p tv will have to wait a few years though, my current HD set is only 6 months old!
