To those of you who own a 40GB PS3.

hey guys,

There have been several reports from some of the members here having problems with their 40GB Playstion 3. I want to see your insight of this if you have/don't have any problems with the 40GB.

if you do have a problem and there is a collective this should be reported to sony to take care of whatever issues these systems have.

Got my ps3 in November last year and had to take it back in march this year as the optical drive stopped working. It wouldnt play games or blu-rays at all. It just cut off one day when i was playin FIFA 08 and wouldnt read anyting after that.

I did take it back to GAME where i bought it and they exchanged it right way no problems! It is the 40 gb i have and so far my replacement ps3 has been fine, but ive only had it since march so i'll wait and see what happens.

i keep mine on all the time i had a game freeze one time other than that no problems

Not a Problem at all! had the 40gb since November 07, ran lots of folding for weeks at time as well.

yea i had my 40 gb for 2 months then it stopprd reading all discs i had the best buy warranty got a new within 10 business days

Why did you use the BB warranty? You just wasted your money. You paid for the PRP and then once you use it you lose it. Your PS3 was still under warranty from Sony and they would have replaced it (or fixed it) for free. So you in a sense just lost out on the money you paid for the PRP and then if you re-purchased it on the new one you just wasted way too much money.

+1. I believe that you have 1 year warranty from Sony. If I were that person i would have taken advantage to it.

right out of the box.... I connected to my wi-fi fine then tried to register for online gaming it said I needed to do a system upgrade. then it restarted said it needs to rebuild the database on the hd then it said it can't and it needs to format the drive and the formatting gets stuck on 0% and at the moment the thing is worthless.
