Thumbs down AMC HD PQ, WtF?

The PQ on AMC HD is absolutely horrible! Apparently, they think "HD" stands for "Hazy Detail". Do they just take an SD signal and blow it up? It's worse than up-converted SD - it's Fuzzy Up-Conversion.

American Movie Classics (a cable/satellite channel) - it looks like AMC HD just SUCs the SD version.

Yes, many times they'll take a 480i source and upscale the image to 1080i. The result? It looks absolutely craptastic. If you caught the 'Jurrasic Park' presentation on TNT HD, then you know what I'm talking about.

It's incredibly horrible.

We only get the british version of TNT here there is no HD channell availble for it yet, in fact i have sky HD have done for nearly 18 months and we've only got about 20 HD channels.

When i was in the states last May we saw cable adverts on the tv there and you guys have over 100 HD channels - is this correct?

Yes, DirectTV and the Dish Network are two that come to mind.

I haven't watched AMC in years. Ever since they started editing films and putting commercials in them, I could care less. TCM ftw.

It's because they zoom in to make some movies 16x9, I was bothered when they showed The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly like that the other day. Sometimes they stretch 4:3 into 16x9 too, that's really lame for an HD channel to do.
