Seriously, none of those over Kansas or Boston? Possibly even Sabbath, since we're talking super-elite....

Maybe, any Beatles song EVER made?

Oh, and Voodoo Child could wipe out everyone of those songs besides Stairway. Kashmir is a better Zeppelin song though....

The Beatles never had a hugely enormous hit like STH or BiB, yeah they had a load of number ones but none that you would think of automatically when someone said Beatles. That's why I have to respect them. And then Voodoo Child?...please, I've never even heard of that.

I don't know where to start?

The Beatles had entire ALBUMS that shaped generations of music. You want a song, A Day In The Life to start.

Voodoo Child has one of the single greatest guitar riffs....ever.

From your list, I guess Stairway to Heaven will suffice. Off the top of my head,

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Sympathy For the Devil - Rolling Stones
Baba O'Riley - The Who
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

1 Led Zeppelin Stairway To Heaven
2 The Rolling Stones (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
3 Eagles Hotel California
4 Queen Bohemian Rhapsody
5 John Lennon Imagine
6 The Doors Light My Fire
7 Derek & The Dominos Layla
8 Bob Dylan Like A Rolling Stone
9 Steppenwolf Born To Be Wild
10 Don McLean American Pie
11 Police Every Breath You Take
12 The Beatles Hey Jude
13 Bruce Springsteen Born To Run
14 The Rolling Stones Brown Sugar
15 Aerosmith Dream On
16 The Rolling Stones Jumpin' Jack Flash
17 Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze
18 Jimi Hendrix All Along The Watchtower
19 The Rolling Stones Sympathy For The Devil
20 Van Morrison Brown Eyed Girl

I'm not even sure I would consider this a definitive list. Nor am I certain any list would satisfy completely. But you can't ignore the Stones, the Boss, or Jimi.
Damn man, great list.

Sorry but Rolling Stones, like 'em or hate 'em, are the biggest rock band in the world and to not include "Satisfaction" as one of the most recognizable rock tunes of all time is inexcusable.

I would venture that over 100 times more people could name Satisfaction within 20 seconds of the song than could name who sang Dust in the Wind or recognize Foreplay by Boston.

Ditto for Layla.

I think Running with the Devil should be up there. That's my vote anyway.

I chose Dust in the Wind since Will Ferrell sang it in Old School for Blu's funeral. Your ma boy Blu.

The only thing cool about Journey was being involved in the Soprano's finale.

That is unless you like songs called Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin sang by high pitched males.

Steve Perry, ughhh.... *shudders*
