Definitely more popular than Aerosmith, and the other two bands aren't performing currently.

why does that matter? a band can still be the best or greatest band ever even though they are not together. they still rocked in their time.

the stones havent counted in many years, they were washed up a long time ago

I dunno if anyone has mentioned this or not for I went through this thread and my memory kinda sucks at the moment.

But no mention of Guns and Roses?

I'm about to go "Knock,Knock, Knocking on heavens door!" (aka da g-friend )

I'm 28. I love classic rock like no other, I would consider them classic POP though. Those are the bands that make me cringe. Don't Stop Believin is NOT a rock song, nor is any other Journey song.

I think when Doby said that, he was speaking of bands currently performing. If the Stones are washed up, how do you explain the ticket sales?

If I had to have a top fifteen classic rock artists, it would look like this. Just my personal preferences though.

1. The Beatles
2. Led Zeppelin
3. Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young
4. Pink Floyd
5. The Doors
6. The Rolling Stones
7. The Who
8. The Beach Boys
9. The Allman Brothers
10. Jimi Hendrix
11. The Grateful Dead
12. Credence Clearwater Revival
13. James Taylor
14. Bob Dylan
15. Lynyrd Skynyrd

Only The Beatles have sold more records.
The Stones have more revenue in ticket sales than any other act.

The only person that could beat The Stones out would be Paul McCartney, but he doesn't tour as often as The Stones.

Anytime McCartney tours he is far and away the #1 tour of the year in straight profit.

In terms of # of tickets sold per year, Dave Matthews Band is probably close to the top. They play between 70-120 shows EVERY YEAR since 1992. (They're not classic rock though, of course)

Yeah, that's why Scorcese made an IMAX movie about their current tour, on account of how few people would pay to see given that they're washed up.

I saw McCartney the last time he was in St. Louis!!!

It was amazing, the only other live performance that has came close for me was a Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young concert several years ago. I saw Page and Plant from Led Zeppelin when they toured maybe 12 years ago, it was really dissapointing for such a rare event....

JasonR, if you don't consider Journey rock, then you couldn't possible consider the Beatles rock. They're nothing more than pop.
