I would tend to think the panel might be from panasonic since panasonics new panels have the same specs. This TV should be light-years ahead of the older 5084. I would seriously look at this TV... in fact... I am even considering selling my Panny 50PZ750 in order to go to the next model the 800 or 850 once it arrives in stores. Gonna check & see if the picture is actually so much better. If not... i'll stick with the 750 :-)

This is most likely a very good TV for the $

I was looking at this tv last week but it doesn't do 1080/24p, only 1080/60p...if that matters to you. Price is right though

I don't even know what 1080/24 does compared to 1080/60...lol is it a difference that is so huge and mind blowing that i should look into it?

I wouldn't say it is light years ahead.. The features aren't much different just the contrast ratio...

I own the 5084 and it has been a great TV set...
