I wouldn't call myself a casual Rush fan, but I wouldn't say a hardcore one either. I bought the Fly By Night LP when it was new, but over the years have pretty well contented myself with various greatest hits cds. Lately though, my interest has revived in a big way, and I've been on a Rush buying spree. As of now, I've got several studio cds, 2 really nice boots, but I'm looking for thoughts regarding live BDs. I recently got BTLS (Beyond The Lighted Stage), and lucked upon the 2112/ Moving Pictures BD , but want a live one next. The Clockwork Angels cd is awesome, so I'm likely gonna get the BD. Has anyone heard possibilities of vintage (1974-7?) stuff coming out on Blu? Thanks in advance for any contributions!

As far as blus go I would get R30 and Snakes and Arrows first. They have the best picture and sound quality. Clockwork Angels live is ever so slightly disappointing in the sound dept. Great set list though. Time Machine is also great but I think Geddy had a cold the night it was recorded. His voice is a bit off. "Marathon" from Time Machine is fantastic.
Hopefully soon they will get around to releasing the Rio and Replay DVDs on blu-Ray ASAP. |

Thanks Blu-Warrior! I'm not sure, but may have watched part of the Snakes show at a neighbors one stoned night

Geddy was also in full force vocally and could split atoms with his high shrieks then. Now I'm not saying they went downhill from there (though I do think that), but in all honesty, the real Rush genius "I couldn't give a f*ck about what they think" era was Rush's golden era with most of their rightly acclaimed masterpieces stemming from it. Rush is better served chronologically IMO Last edited by pentatonic; 01-18-2014 at 04:02 PM. |

I (mostly) agree Pent. Actually, I don't own Exit yet. I always had a sentimental fondness for All The World's A Stage though, and even had Different Stages at one point. I remember getting that one mostly for the 3rd cd, but was kinda shocked at how Geddy's voice had changed so much. In many ways, the same happened to Steve Walsh (Kansas), but both have persevered over the years. Maybe my fave later Rush cd was Presto, but like so many other great bands, there's a multitude of choices to pick from. Is it safe to say that they are the best that Canada has/had to offer? I've always admired Triumph, not to mention Trooper or B.T.O. as well. Nonetheless, I've re-learned to appreciate Rush, and to be reminded as to how talented they really are/were. Does anyone have Rush-An Illustrated History? I have a similar book about Queen, and love it.
