Certain movies have required firmware updates for titles to work correctly in certain players, and I don't know if they have rectified those issues for the PC yet. I watched the movie and had no problems with my PS3, do you have another Blu-ray player to test the disc on to see if it is not a bad disc?

I am not familiar with the PC side of it, so I couldn't even tell you where to look, and even if there are updates available to d/l in the first place. Just give your question some time since the majority of people come on this board within the next 8-12 hours. I would check back later to see if anyone has better information. Good luck.

Start - Run - devmgmt.msc
Expand your DVD/CD-Rom Drives Option and notice the line item. It will say something like HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N Take that line item - or at least the last part - GWA-4082N and plug it into a google search. This should help you identify the manufacturer of your drive- you've already got the model. Hunt down your manufacturers website - or do google searches for "GWA-4082N" firmware "download" - etc. You'll find them. Firmware updates must be for the correct drive - and often the correct version. They're generally fairly particular about making sure they have the right model drive before they flash, but if you force the wrong firmware on the drive, you could potentially render it useless until corrected - so use caution. Pop any discs out of the drive, as well as stopping ANY applications that might access it (explorer windows, player software, burning software that runs in the tray, etc) Good Luck! |

I'd be more suspect of software myself - but I see this on my own system with some movies, and my firmware, drivers, and software are all as perfect as I think they can be.
I dropped $25 on NewEgg for the Microsoft Remote and IR receiver and this has been a non-issue since. ![]() |

hi,
![]() i saw there is a new patch out for PDVD 8 Ultra. I only got v7.3U. ------------- PowerDVD 8 Ultra build 1730 Improved features: * Enhances disc loading time for Blu-ray Discs. * Reduces memory consumption. Issues fixed in this release: * Blu-ray Disc region code can only be changed by an Administrator account. * Cannot enable hardware acceleration during H.264 playback. * Cannot output LPCM when speaker environment changed to SPDIF. * No functions available for the Top Menu/Menu buttons of the CyberLink remote control. * The fade in/out function is abnormal when audio objects overlap in Movie Remix room. * Choppy sound and noise when overlapping fade-in for audio objects in Movie Remix room. * The Movie Remix tour does not work without a Flash player. Limitations: * Does not support Intel G33/G35 during Blu-ray Disc playback. ------------- somebody here who can test this with the new version ? I will not upgrade to PDVD8 without a problem solution ...... |

Welcome in the jungle?
Never heard of it, neither has Blu-ray.com. This? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0327850/ No Rumble in the Jungle either. Are you sure about the name and/or whether it is a Blu-ray or not? Last edited by dadkins; 06-05-2008 at 09:07 PM. |

I've got a lite-on blu-ray drive model dh-401s which I installed along with a number of other upgrades(see rig specs). I purchased two bd discs - the Planet Earth 4-disc set and the Digital Video Essentials calibration disc. I first did most of the hardware upgrades to my PC (Case, PSU, memory, bd-rom, raptor HD, video card). this is where things are fuzzy. I can't recall if I upgraded the bd-rom firmware first or not but after I got the hardware installed I was able to play the DVE disc and successfully tested the output to my 42"plasma. Then, I upgraded the OS to Windows XP x64 (which I really like) and tested with the Planet Earth discs (awesome!). Then, of course I saw a good deal on a faster CPU and installed it. some weeks have passed, my setup is now custom-fit the way I like and I decide to explore my HD settings and what happens? Now the DVE video don' a work-a!! I've tried re-installing the PowerDVD software - No good, I tried reverting to 32-bit XP - NG. I tried running a trial version of PDVD8 Ultra - NG. Always the same result. The Planet Earth DVDs (blu-ray) work fine, but the DVE disc loads, displays the top-level menu, but nothing else. Can a disc break? (I doubt it - no scratches). Is there a compatibility issue with the encoding of this particular DVD and the updated firmware (remember the Planet Earth dvds are still ok!) I would think XP x64 would cause a problem with both...Any suggestions?

ok, after further investigations, I discovered - much to my chagrin - that the mouse at some point stops working as an input to the PowerDVD app (top menu to be precise) and then I have to use the enter key and arrow keys to navigate this particular DVD. Which, by the way is lacking in the area of 1080p content, even though its distributed in BD format.
I did get alot of info and eventually pointed in the right direction thanks to the other areas of this forum. I'm very appreciative for resources like this. IO can be e-mailed if I an be of any help- promise, I'm not always so clueless! |

I have an LG BD 550 player, I have just received Constantine BR, on loading it goes straight into the movie, pushing DVD menu just has the usual cross no access. in order to view the menu I have to tab the chapters to the end of the movie, then I have copyright pages to tab through only then does the menu come up when the disc has a think. then it displays the menu this is the first time I have had this issue Could it be the player? or just the disc?
