Playing the core track - Blu-ray Forum

I have a PS3 with an Onkyo 605 and I'm wondering how to play the core track and then switch to a lossless track. If I choose bitstream vs. choosing LPCM, will it automatically play the core track? Also, when I hit Display on the PS3 will it reflect what audio codec it is, whether it be lossy or lossless? I want to be able to "hit the switch" and hear night and day difference to know in the back of my mind I'm getting lossless audio...

P.S. I did the latest PS3 firmware upgrade, and am hooked up via HDMI

Yes in the bitstream mode you will get 1.5 mbps and PCM will give you the full bitrate.

PCM has no core track, it would just come through as stereo.. You would have to use True HD.

"Bitstream" is impossible with lossless codecs on the PS3. You have to select PCM for all of them, and then have it hooked up via HDMI. It will automatically send the core track out of the optical
