Default Is Indy 4 getting bad reviews?

I read this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/10/mo...in&oref=slogin

How is it getting bad reviews? One thing I didn't understand was are they doing advance screenings because of bad buzz or because it's highly anticipated?

Yes, a lot of movies are screened 2-3 weeks in advance to build up buzz. I used to host movie screenings back in the day

However, from word of mouth that Ive read on the net, its not looking good.

I still say its going to flop -_-V

This is what happens when a movie is built up so big. Expect Dark Knight to displease people because its built up as THE greatest movie of all time and if its anything less, people will complain. Does it mean its a bad movie? Absolutely not

Well I Saw the previews and I loved it. I don't expect it to be the greatest movie ever but I do expect it to good.

And stop hating on Shia LeBeouf. He's a great actor IMO. Can't wait for Transformers 2.

It will sell a lot (DUH).

P.S. IRONMAN was SICK! Can't wait for it to come to Bluray!

I've read four reviews, two very positive, the others . . . not negative, but not really positive. The main criticism is that it doesn't really bring anything new to the series, but really, was anybody expecting anything shattering? The bottom line I've gathered is that, if you're an Indy fan, you'll enjoy the flick. I'll be there on day one, earlier if I can get my hands on some passes, and will probably see it a minimum of twice. As long as Ford can get back into the role, which he looks like he has, I think he can carry the movie even if everything else is bad (which doesn't look to be the case).

How is Harrison Ford in any way a has been? He's one of the biggest movie stars ever and can still turn in a great performance.

I was hoping that they weren't gonna bring too many new things to the series with this movie. Like if somebody were to mention Indy, people think of all 4 films as a whole rather than the first 3 films and "the other one."

Exactly. I accidentally read a spoiler and one thing I'm kind of looking forward, but not looking forward to, is the explanation of what exactly that warehouse is. I know what it is, but I hope the reveal and explanation is cool. The final warehouse scene is one of the best scenes in Raiders, and one of the best endings ever, and I hope the explanation of it is at least as good or better than the coolness of not knowing. One of the best things, to me, that I read in one of the reviews, is that this one is basically a mixture of elements of all three originals. It's got the adventure of the first, the darker themes of the second, and the lighthearted, family story of the third, all rolled into one flick. I'm expecting it fit in nicely.

Oh yeah I was reading up on that too! I didn't think anything of it when I first saw the trailer for it. I think this movie is gonna do great. Plus, they've been doing a great job with advertising and I haven't seen a movie get advertised like this in a long time. I'm always seeing the M&Ms commercial, the trailers, and the ads on Dr. Pepper.

I love Ford, but just think he is to old to play Indy at this point.

Why don't you see the film before you decide that? Stallone played Rocky at 60 and made arguably the second best film in the series.
