I just jumped off the analog wagon and bought a 40 inch Sony Bravia. I also have a Sony Multimedia receiver that is a few years old. I used to have it hooked up to my old VCR/DVD combo so I could playback movies through the steroe speakers of the receiver.
I tried to hook up a DVD player with an HDMI connector to the TV and composite connectors to the receiver, but I don't get any sound. Any ideas? Would photos of my hook up be helpful? Thanks! |

![]() In the configuration of your DVD player, verify that the audio is set to output to the analog outputs and not to the HDMI port. And use the red and white analog stereo cables (if you can't use a better connection). |

OK, I am using RCA cables. I tried the same set-up that I had with my old TV.
The cable guy from Time Warner is supposed to come tomorrow to hook up the TV and my Road Runner cable on my computer. I am having to use the computer at work. I also noticed that there is one more spot on the back of my new TV for audio out. I will try that as soon as I get the TV working. |

My receiver is a Sony Digital / Audio / Video Control Center STR-DE445.
My dvd player is an RCA DVD Player DRC290. Hey, my wife bought it as a surprise for me! The tv gets hooked up this afternoon. I'll know more then. |

Success!
Took a chance and placed the yellow RCA cable in the Coaxial plug and got the receiver to play the audio through my Bose speakers. I may take a different route and make the speakers work any time the TV is turned on. There is an audio out on the back panel of the TV. |

I now have all my peripherals hooked up and working. I noticed that when my TV and receiver are both sending out an audio signal that there is enough lag between the two that it creates a slight echo to the point where one or the other must be turned down to zero to get good sound.
Is this normal? |
