Default Hypothetical - Denon 3800 or above vs PS3

If you had a true high-end system:

Speaker price range: Mains $15,000 and up
Center 7,500 and up
Rear: 15,000 and up
Sub (x2): 7,000 and up (each)

Amp price range: 7 mono block amps: $4,000 each

Processor range: Prepro $8,000

Equalization: Audyssey $2,500

Projector/monitor $15,000 and up

With a system like this, you have the money, and you're not a gamer would you opt for a PS3 or a highend unit - If money was no object.
Wish I had this type of cash

In that case it would be a dedicated player which could bitstream TrueHD and Master Audio to the processor, which I'm sure would do a better job of decoding the audio than the ps3 does.

The dedicated player everytime. As poster said bitstream, and most importantly IR control to go with your expensive remote.

And it upscales SD DVDs better than the PS3.

Plus the 3800 is very sexy. It is built like a tank too.
