Default Lucas comments on Indy 5

Quote:
"I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this," he said. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.

"And it’s not like Harrison is even old. I mean, he’s 65 and he did everything in this movie. The old chemistry is there, and it’s not like he’s an old man. He’s incredibly agile; he looks even better than he did 20 years ago, if you ask me."

Hopefully Steven and Harrison tell him he's losing his mind. I'm all for Indy 5, but not with Shia as the lead. "Mutt Williams and the Death of a Franchise." I guess my hope that Shia dies is ruined

If Lucas wants to continue the Indy franchise with a part 5, i'm all for it IF Harrison Ford comes back and is the main character. None of this Mutt Williams (Shia) CRAP!!!

I called it this way as soon aas I saw the trailer. Harrison will follow the path of Conery was and Shai will follow that of Harrison. I realize this may not be popular, but it makes the most sense.

You can say all you want that Harrison isn't old, it won't make it true. He may look great on screen, but take a look at him on a talk show or being interviewed somewhere like the red carpet of an event; the man is old! Either he will not be able to, or wil not want to continue this role at some point.

If The script for Indy 5 isn't even in it's concept phase yet, by the time it starts shooting Harrison will be creeping up on 70...He just doesn't work as the main character in an action packed movie any more.

Nobody wanted to see Conery replaced as Bond either, but he was, and the franchise did fine. I'm sure this will be the case with Indy as well. At least it is being done as a new character instead of a new actor playing the same character. If they tried to replace Harrison with another actor playing Indy, that would be even worse!

Oh no, it's Episode I all over again. In the 5th installment all the guns will be replaced with walkie-talkies and the entire cast replaced by eewoks.

But I don't think it will happen (thankfully).

He needs to spend less time killing this franchise and more time prepping his other for Blu-Ray.

I had read somewhere that Shia signed on for 3 movies. I'll see if I can find it later.

Good for him, but when Ford leaves, so does my interest.

OK, I hate to say it, but MAYBE I should SEE the movie before I go too sour on the idea...although Mutt Williams and the Temple of Doom just doesn't have the same ring...

They should end the Indy series now while their ahead, otherwise they are going to milk until they make a mockery out of it, which by the sound of it is not to far in the future.

After watching the mummy if there was to be another Indiana Jones.. I think Branden Frazier would be better than Shia..
