Default Sony Receiver - Auto-Calibration

I've searched these forums and all of Google to try to find an answer to my question, but had no luck.

About a year ago, I bought a used Sony receiver, which was in excellent condition, and included everything...except the auto-cal microphone.

My question is, is there a place I can order a new microphone? If not, do you know if any microphone with a 3.5mm jack will work? I've seen some Denon ones for sale, and was wondering if that will do the job, or if I can use one of the cheap mics I have sitting around for use on my computer (provided I can find where I put them).

What model receiver?
Have you tried calling Sony?

It's the DG820. I haven't called Sony because it was never really a huge enough issue to warrant potentially sitting around on hold for a while.

Now that I'm moving tomorrow, and was in the process of taking down all my speakers, I thought it might be useful to have the microphone when I set everything back up in my new place.

You must have the model number wrong as the 820 is not due to be available until end of this week. It's on my short list of receivers to get.

You're right. A little fat fingering on my part, it's the 810.

I have a 710 with the mic. I don't know if this is completely unreasonable to suggest, but I could let you borrow mine. It wouldn't cost but $2-3 to ship. If you can't find one, I'm sure we can work something out. It was nice to use it for the auto-cal.

Thanks for the offer. I'm moving from NC up to NY tomorrow, and have a wedding to attend over the weekend, so I imagine I won't be fully moved in for another week or so. If I can't figure anything else out, I'll send you a PM next week, to see what we can do.

Would it be possible to use any other mike for autocal, or it has to be just Sony? I have a STRDG910 and don't have the mike...

Thanks

I will save you the trouble and tell you not to bother with the auto setup.. I played with the auto setup myself when I had the DG910 and ended up having to just manually calibrate it myself, after reseting the receiver 2 times..

Don't bother with it..

As suggested already, I'd try calling Sony. They are pretty dead and dull on the phone but, you might have some luck.
