Ok so here's my rant..I buy and trade a lot as most of you know and been doing it for about 6 years on and off at different forums. Get excited and I wait for the mail everyday to see what "goodies" arrive. Well I have tracking numbers for 4 packages that were supposedly delivered last Thursday that I never got. The tracking numbers say they were delivered but I don't have them so the dumb ass postal worker (not my normal postal guy cause he's been on vacation) apparently gave my packages to someone else....So the PO is looking into it but I know that if they were given to someone else that more than likely I will never get them. Sorry just needed to vent!!

Is the post office responsible for lost or damaged packages without insurance?

That's the worst thing. I once bought a poster, and it was a hard one to find, received it and it was damaged. The seller offered to reimburse the cost, and go after the carrier, but I would have had to return the poster. The downside to that was well, I had to find the poster again, so I ended up keeping it damaged.

Similar thing happened to me only with Fed Ex. A computer was ordered for $500 off of eBay. Tracking it for a couple of days. The day of delivery gets here i think it was a Thursday. Waiting around from 12:00 P.M-7:00 P.M No box. Call up Fed Ex and they get in contact with the driver who was a different guy. He claims he left it at our door. Go check the door and there was nothing there. About 30 minutes later he appears at my house in his personal car, no uniform or I.D saying he was a driver for Fed Ex. He then began to explain that he left it at the house across the street at the back door at 1:00 in the afternoon. We go across the street which is very busy during the day. Nothing there. He said that the label on the box was damaged and hard to read. It was supposed to come to 603 and he left it at 601. Call Fed Ex back they put in a claim. Find out the family that lives across the street went away. So I go up to the house behind it on Saturday and ask if they knew of a rather large box being left at the back door. She said no but called her grandson to ask him since he had been at the house that day. This guy is in his mid 20's i think. He took the box and put it in their garage buried under a bunch of stuff. The box by the way was not light or small in any way. It was around 80 lbs. It also had my name written on the side of the box and on the label which was not damaged in anyway whatsoever. He also opened my box and saw that it was a computer. I think he was going to keep it...but sorry for the long post... ![]() |

over the course of the week, we have a couple mail carriers... sometimes 4 or 5 DIFFERENT ones in a two-week period......
what makes it worse, is the fact that there are generally 2 days a week we don't get mail (excluding Sunday of course) We rarely get mail on Mondays, then on Tuesday the mail-box is over-flowing........ we have the laziest mail carriers in the country I think...... I'm glad I'm moving... I was working on the new house and the mail carrier introduced himself, and even chatted for a minute..... crazy the difference 1.5 miles can make!!!!!!! EDIT... Just noticed JW's post.... damn.. didn't realize this was a regurgitated thread ![]() |

I once received a package that contained a hardcover book. It was one of those large format books and was kind of thin. It was packed in a cardboard box that was just the right size. Anyway, the package had been folded in half somehow and the book was ruined. It was sitting on my porch waiting for me to come home from work. I thought someone had just tossed an old box on my porch. I couldn't believe they had delivered it that way. I had previously had items that had been damaged that didn't make it to me at all, but just ended up being returned to the sender.

this is why I don't buy things from woot...
smart post is the lamest thing ever...I have about a 50% chance of receiving my items... Smartpost is a weird joining of FedEx and the post office, FedEx makes the long delivery to your local USPS office then they take over...so you get twice the chance of a screwup.. stupidest idea ever. |
