Circus world blu ray (starz anchor bay) april 7 2014

Could ANYONE, please tell me IF, this UK version of CIRCUS WORLD BLU RAY, is REGION FREE ?

Actually ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT UK, is releasing this, as per amazon.uk !

My guess is that Anchor Bay's CIRCUS WORLD and 55 DAYS IN PEKING will be locked to region B because their EL CID and FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE were both region locked.

I watched the French Blu over the Weekend it has excellent PQ but I did
notice the intermission music and exit music sounds like it came from an old
record or very bad optical track.

It has the restoration credits after The End title , the Blu of 55 days of Peking
has the restoration credits at the start.

Ah! That explains a lot. Seems as if the French distributor added the music to the restored film from another source which Anchor Bay have not done (judging from the running time).

I have the French BD, and it is outstanding! Since the original film did not contain intermission or exit music, the producers of the French BD created one from the LP soundtrack record. And I am very, very happy they went that extra mile. The melody is hauntingly beautiful, and to have it run throughout the film adds immensely to the viewing pleasure.

You will not be sorry. The image on that French BD is really amazing. And yes, I sure do know about that frame of mind. Watching a John Wayne flick always gets me in a happier mood.

Can anyone explain why there are two French versions, both from the same distributor - Filmedia? The first was released in 2012 and had the original film artwork as in the above post. The second was released in 2013 and has a less attractive cover and is slightly more expensive. Details/content seem to be identical. Both are still available.

Its a shame they could not find a mint LP.

Yeah, have to agree the little pops and hisses are definitely present. But the melody is so enchanting, it's easy enough to overlook.

Duke45, Do they do something like this, normally...It's a little surprising, they don't have this element of the film, for the blu ray mastering.

I do not think this is a practice that is done often, but it has been done before. For the 1776 Pioneer Special Edition Laserdisc, the producers hired someone to create an artificial Overture, Intermission, and Exit music (As none had existed before). And just like this BD of Circus World, the additional pieces of music certainly enhance the overall enjoyment of the film. They had much clearer soundtrack elements for that release, so it sounds like it's just part of the film. For Circus World, you do notice the inclusion of the LP record, when creating the additional music.

But it's still a joy to have, and we all should be very fortunate the French team went the extra mile on the release of this to BD.

Well, I can't wait for my laser disc, Duke_45...at least they made an honest effort to re-create the music ! I'm sure the French remaster for blu ray, somehow didn't have the rights to use that for their issue.

My pleasure musicfann, but I don't think you realized that the laserdisc I was referring to was 1776, not Circus World. I also use to own the laserdisc of Circus World, and while it is a very fine presentation, it does not contain the additional music on it. For that, you will need to wait for the BD.

OOOps sorry about that, Duke_45...though I, personally, LOVE that film also.

It would be nice for SCREEN ARCHIVES to remaster CIRCUS WORLD, properly, as they usually, do an isolated score, on their special, blu ray remasters.

Here's hoping, for at least a CD!

One would think, that, at least 55 DAYS IN PEKING, would have enough cache' as a Nick Ray film, and a title, on MOST, "Most Wanted" FAN lists, to be picked up, by someone like CRITERION for a REGION A, remaster, but I guess not.
