That is one beautiful slipcover. I was really hoping Criterion would release this one, but I guess they've had their Wes Anderson fill for the moment. Skipped on both Moonrise and this one.

Oh man, that slip is gorgeous. I'll finally get to see the film sometime this week, and I'm very excited about that.

Yep. When it comes to new releases, the studios want to get their piece of Wes Anderson pie before they let Criterion get up all in it.

I'll get this and the criterion edition as well (whenever it's released).

+1. Still haven't seen it yet but I already know I'm gonna love it. Really wish Memphis would get this already...

Same here. It's going to be a while, so I'll watch the studio releases of them for now. Better than waiting and not being able to watch them on Blu-ray.

Honestly I just hope they go all out for this release. I emailed Criterion earlier about trying to get Moonrise and this on their future releases and they gave me a really terrible reply. I'm sick of playing the waiting or double dip game with them.

This has beautiful artwork, hopefully they get the features right and a criterion release would be useless. While Moonrise, I'm thinking of biting soon, growing tired of waiting.

Fantastic Mr. Fox (which was distributed by Fox like Budapest Hotel) should've given you the indication that yes, all of Wes Anderson's films will make it to the Criterion collection. The Fox release had a decent amount of extras and was well worth it for the nearly 5 years it took for Criterion to release it. I wouldn't expect a Moonrise Kingdom release until at least 2017, and Grand Budapest Hotel even later.

The studios that actually make/distribute the films need to have their profits and once those have slowed then Criterion can go about making their releases, and it'll be worth the double-dip just like Mr. Fox was.

So I say go ahead and buy and enjoy Moonrise Kingdom. It's a decent release, it looks good. Pales to a Criterion, sure, but I paid 20 bucks for it two years ago and I'll sell it and get the Criterion. Win-Win.

A real rarity for me; a new film that I loved & want to buy the Blu-ray of. It's the kind of film that you can see time & again.

Well that's if there's a good resale value but I just feel manipulated paying extras as always but I think I'm gonna bite on moonrise hopefully the slip still exists because who knows where technology will by then.

But regarding home video sales there's no reason why they can't do what they did with Benjamin Button with Paramount/criterion release of it. The only bummer was the packaging wasn't as nice

I'll be preordering when Fox has another coupon, and it can be ordered for around $13.

I can hear the "where's The Grand Budapest Hotel?" right now over at the Criterion page.
