lol.

Well, when I first tried to log in I saw 3 fields. Username. Password and a 3rd.

You don't fill in anything in the 3rd field AT ALL. It's completely stupid, and doesn't even tell you that, but a friend did and after I just put in something to the first two fields I managed to log into the beta.

R3P0 - I can appreciate that - and trust me, I played EverQuest since 1999 so I understand the value of a good DPS parse and knowing content strats.

I think the disparity in the game comes in with PC vs. PSx players. While I freely admit, I haven't played FF XIV on a PC, I think playing on a PSx grouped with players leveraging a PC, causes issues.

There was some content in the end game that I fully understood the content, but just couldn't "keep up" with the rest of the group. I was always in the "right spot" a few seconds too late or my macros weren't producing sufficient enough DPS (SMN main).

IDK - for me, if it was F2P, I'd still be in. If I have to pay to have my balls broken, I may as well get married

Is there some kind of free to play thing going on right now? I haven't paid for a subsription yet but I'm still able to log in and play.

I bought the PS3 version in Feb, used the 30 day trial and never upgraded to a paid sub.

Played both PS4 Beta and then started the early accsses last week and still haven't had to pay

If you were on Ps3 then trust me there is nothing you can do to fix your rotations. The PS3 version is hampered by severe lag even on the best of connections. The server side "checks" for position would always get you. Sadly you would have been a victim of my rules on my 3 deaths = kick rule.

My online banking has less encryption than this log in.

Ok so I had done this back whenever for PS3 version & actually played the game. Big mistake.

Because of that,

I reset password & got account working on my tablet.
You can't change ID in the field on PS4.
Everything is case sensitive.

After successfully changing password, Had a few problems with security question. Case sensitive. By default PS4 capitalizes first letter. Oops.

Oh but wait..

Since you can't change an existing Square account that is linked to PSN already when you revisit the sign-in page, your corrected information is incorrect.

The wait time for the dungeons in this game is crazy!

I need to complet the Chamber of Embers to progress the story and so far I've been sat here over 30mins with no hint of movement. There's just no Tanks or Healers. Makes me want to quit my character and start as one of those instead

I am tank and I rarely wait over 2 mins. On the weekends, it is usually finds me a group as soon as it I hit the queue button.

I do have a bard too. Wait time for that class is usually 30 mins Mon-Fri and 20ish on the weekends.

Just too many people playing DPS classes. If you go DPS, then be prepared to wait for your dungeon queues.

Do your hunting log while you wait.

Or simply switch to another class while you wait. Just be prepared to switch back to the class you initiated the queue with at the drop of a hat. In other words, you don't need to sit around on the same class while you wait.

Can't believe how addictive this game is getting. I do have a few questions about the game.

I started out as a THM, so will I always be classed as a DPS for Dungeons or can I switch to a Healer using the same character and take on that roll, Or Do I have to create a new one from scratch?

It may sound like a noob question but I can't seem to find an answer. From what I've read you can take on every single class in this game with one character by equipping a weapon from that class. Do your stats reset for each class? So if I switch from a THM who has low max HP to a Tank class will the Tank have the same stats as my THM or do you start from scratch?

I've only just started dabbling in Weaving, got to about lvl 17/18 in that before running out of shards and moving on to mining to get some more.

Up until now I've just been going along completing story and side quests leveling up my THM. He's lvl 30 now so I'm thinking of starting Archer so I can become a Black Mage. Only trouble is I wen't ahead and cleared most low level quests with my THM when I first got chance to travel to the other regions, so am I gonna have ***** of a time trying to level him up to lvl 15 without them? Or will Leves/Hunting log/FATES be enough to get there without feeling like too much of a chore?

So far I feel like I'm only just scratching the surface of what's on offer in the game, I've not even started to build up any other classes yet and haven't even attached my first materia.

I'm thinking it might be worth leveling up each class to lvl 15 to take advantage of Cross-Class Actions, or is it only worth leveling up specific classes?

Even if the end game stuff is a bad as some people say it is the build up to it is certainly worth the monthly sub, there's loads of stuff to do so much so that I don't know where to start sometimes, I can see my sinking in at least the next month non stop playing this game, and then probably another 1 or 2 months just jumping on in between other games. where as most offline games I'll have beat in a week or two and never go back to.

You can play as many classes as you want on one character. You never have to re-roll another character on this game.

Yes, your stats reset for each class. Though you do have to go to each trainer to gain access to new classes. The trainers are in the three capital cities.

Quests really don't get you great exp. FATES and especially instanced dungeons (through duty finder) get you excellent experience. Up to level 15 I'd suggest hunting logs and FATES.

Cross class skills vary. For example on Black Mage (my main class) the only cross class skills you can use are arcanist and archer spells. Below is a good source of info.

You get an experience bonus based on the difference in level between your highest level class and the one you're currently on. You'll find yourself flying through those lower levels very quickly. Don't forget to always keep yourself Well Fed for that 3% bonus as well.

Maverick, make sure you do your dailes when leveling other jobs you get increased EXP and it does help break up the mundane FATE grind that is constantly going on. Once you complete your quests its going to be Hunting Logs, FATE, and dungeons for leveling that's it. Black Mage is fun make sure you learn your rotation ASAP. Also remember each job has 2 additional classes they can pull abilities from. In this case you also need to level ACN to 34 as well as leveling ARC to 34.

Thanks for the tips R3PO.

I did start ARC earlier but only got to lvl 6 before my connection dropped and what do you know, Sony decided to think Easter Monday was the perfect time to do some bloody maintenance

So I haven't been able to play much at all today.

I need to read up on that rotation, I've got a basic understanding on how to run dungeons but I need a lot more practice. I tend to attract too much attention I don't know if that's because the tanks not doing the job properly or if it's my fault.
