I've never played any of the Far Cry's before, but I did get 2 an 3 for free from PS+. May have to play through them to see if I like enough to get #4.

I don't think cross-gen is much of a difference for Far Cry. 3 was already pushing PS3 way too hard, and was really only running by the skin of its teeth. Consider me excited.

Look forward to this. I remember playing the original Far Cry on a PC based on a Geforce 3 card, I missed out on Far Cry 2 due to bad reviews but then i got Far Cry 3 as a bargain and it was of of my fav games of 2013

I REALLY would like this. There's a small handful of games I'd love to see on the PS4, namely this, Red Dead, LBP2 and (just because I played the shit out of it on PS3) Arkham City.

Ease of programming is part of it. Obviously install-base is another. Another factor is online. Back on the PS2 you only had a few decent online games as online multiplayer was still in its infancy. On PS3 it's a much different story. Let's face it, a single player only CoD or BF just would not sell well when multiplayer options are available on other platforms. There is also more incentive in porting the latest CoD/BF because of the map packs and season passes.

Finally, I believe that many game engines such as CryEngine, Fox Engine and Unreal were designed to scale very well. Many developers have taken a PC mentality with developing on consoles by keeping scalability in mind which is a must on PC due to the various configurations.

Personally I see third party going cross-gen for at least another year. At the very least they will develop a 'version' of the game for PS3/360.

Look at Ubisoft and what they're doing with the next installment of Assassins Creed. They're making Unity for PS4/XBOne and Comet for PS3/XB360.

I believe they're doing this so that the old generation consoles don't hold back the new game for the new generation consolses.

I think a lot of the developers want to go PS4/XBOne only but are, obviously, being held back by the sheer amount of people that haven't upgraded yet. At the end of the day it's all about the MONIES £$

I really enjoyed 3 except the very problematic "White Messiah" storyline, but graphics, voice acting (especially Vaas) and gameplay were very good. And the story was good too, I just kinda rolled my eyes at the White Savior aspect to it, and even more so when one of the devs tried to explain it away.

Vaas was good, I just never bought the main character's progression in the story and the ending was either bad or terrible depending on what you chose. I don't mean to complain too much because it was a great game, it's just that the writing in other video games in recent years has been exceptional and I/we have higher standards now.

I started a thread a while back about the Farcry 3 definitive editon that was rumored.

At this point they seem to be much less good. I was hoping for this too. Now that we know about Farcry 4 and that its taking place in the Himayalas it would seem wayyyy more likely that the rumor I started the thread on was pointing to Farcry 4 and not a Farcry 3 port.

I platted Farcry 3 and got a 1000 gamerscore on it so I am definitely down to replay with better graphics.

It seemed like something they would have announced along with Farcry 4.

I would say it is seamless coop. You are playing the story, decide you want help taking down a fort, so you invite friends. But im not sure officially.
