Default Help with Denon 2808 Settings

I have a new Denon 2808 and I'm still trying to figure it all out. I have 3 questions about the settings.

-Does anybody know what the difference is between "Multi Channel In" and "Multi Channel Direct In"? I can't seem to find that out.

-Also, are those the settings to get true Bitstream in or is there some other setting for that? Bitstream is the best right?

-Lastly, isn't PCM a better audio track than a regular Dolby 5.1? Whenever I watch a BluRay with PCM it sounds horribly mixed. Again when I watch these I have my receiver set to Multi Channel In.

Thanks a lot for the help!

It all depends on what kind of player you have. If you have a player that can't decode DTS HD MA/HR or Dolby TrueHD, and if it is able to bitstream, then set you're player to that. PCM literally means that you're player is decoding the track and sending it to your receiver, even if you're listening to Dolby Digital. The player does most of the work PCM or bitstream. If your player is set to bitstream, your receiver will tell you if it is decoding which usually adds some things that makes it a better decoder.

PS3 should be set to Linear PCM for internal decoding.

So then would the "Multi Channel Direct" setting be the best for my receiver to play this at best quality?
