Red face Buy list based solely on picture quality

So far I've heard that Con Air, iRobot and I Am Legend look gorgeous. Any others we can make a buy list with based solely on picture quality? I'm sure people who are new to BR would appreciate a quick list as I would. I can vouch for Sunshine and I Am Legend. I heard that Ghost In The Shell: Innocence looks sweet but that Ghost In The Shell bites the big one.

Thanks

wow guys...fast replies and great to see that some of my want list is on those lists. Ones I am waiting for here in Japan are:

The Island
The Prestige
Fifth Element (Remastered)
Blade Runner

They're all coming this month.

I'm so Jonesn' for Bladerunner. Unfortunately they are only releasing the 2 disc edition here and not the cool 5 disc version. At least that's what Amazon.jp is listing. I'll probably buy the English 5 disc version and Japanese 2 disc version.

I also loved the set design and the story line in The Island. Can't wait for see that too! The Prestige is soooo awesome. BUT I REALLY want to see The Illusionist on BR !!!!!!!!!!!

the prestige was a must have for me. pq was great, but not excellent, as i was hoping.

i personally thought the prestige was far superior, story wise, to the illusionist, but i will most definitly be buying the illusionist once it hits bd.

im a huge fan of both christian bale and edward norton. both put in pretty amazing performances. but the prestige definitly took the cake for me. mainly because i love movies that you need watch atleast a second time in order to catch minor plot throws, twists, or hints. and even after watching multiple multiple times, i still catch new things ive missed from previous viewings.

god damn. guess im watching the prestige tonight

hehe Yeah I loved all the Tesla stuff too

Oh also I don't know why but one of my favorite recent movies is The Mist. I just LOVED that movie. Very entertaining. I can't wait for it on BR.

...and I am waiting for Stargate [Kurt Russell/James Spader]. I heard the BR was not that good though. Is that true?

waiting for AI and Minority Report too..

Gattaca was on their Tier 2 Silver list. Odd, I thought it looked sexy. At least Tier One Gold. I strongly disagree with the rating for that film. They also said Con Air was just good while some of you on this forum freaked out about how amazing the quality of it was.

Btw, that avs website is horrible. Takes forever to load [2 min] and is nasty looking. That list should be on this forum

Expect blu-ray.com to follow the footpath of AVS once it's gets busy and overcrowded. It happens. IT sucks.

I watched Hellboy yesterday, and it's one of the best-looking if not THE best one I have in my collection--yes, I have I Robot, Apocalypto, etc but this one has some amazing scenes IMO. Maybe it's the great special-effects and cinematography, but this really impressed me.

I think that's one I'll definitely be picking up since I really liked the movie anyway.

+1

I have to agree with you. I thought Hellboy was stunning on blu. Very sharp and crisp images, and an SQ to boot.
