Talking Pink Floyd Reunion 2009 ?? !

It appears that Roger Waters is on board ! If so, a blu release with HD Audio would be stellar ! A Floyd blu ? Kick Ass !

After their impressive presentation at Live 8 some years ago, to have'em together again and to have a new concert, maybe in Blu, will make me very very happy.

But I wouldn't be that excited about it. Waters and Mason are supposedly on board, but Gilmour is the one who has stated that he's not interested in going "back to that old thing".

A shame that it will happen (if ever) until 2009. Nor US or THEM are getting younger, you know...

As much as I would love to see it, I just don't see it happening. Gilmour has stated many times since Live 8 that even putting aside all of the differences he and Rogers has, he just isn't interested in touring on the scale the classic or new Pink Floyd did. He enjoys working on his solo stuff and doing very small tours.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I'm certainly not gonna hold my breath.

I hold your caution as well. However, if they do just one show and record it? Then we will have the original Floyd on Blu Ray FOREVER !
Of course minus Syd !

Default By the way... Which one's Pink?

Glimour said Floyd was 'Finished' a while back. I'd be surprised, but I would pay ANYTHING to see the band together like Live 8

I think a one off reunion concert might be a possibility but I could never see them touring together again. David and Roger didn't really speak for many years. I just hope some of Roger's shows come out on Blu-ray. His shows have been the best concerts I've been to this decade.

Quote "David and Roger didn't really speak for many years."

That would seem true of course but where did you get that info?

I remember reading that they always sent each other Christmas cards each year which isn't much but qualifies as at least somewhat friendly.

I believe there was significant problems but would like to think some small part of friendship remained throughout the whole deal.

At any rate,.. I never passed up a chance to see any of Pink Floyd's members perform live and I'm very glad I got many chances to do so. When I first started listening to them I thought I missed everything because "The Final Cut" was the last record at that point and I thought that summed it up.

But,.. Then I went to RW Pros and Cons and then about 7 to 9 Pink Floyd shows followed by 2 more RW and finally a DG solo show.

Didn't make it to Live 8 despite thinking I'm the biggest PF fan ever. (ha ha.)

According to Dave Gilmour he is open to another 1 off type show for a good cause but not up for a world tour. That he has enough money so anything they do would not be about money.

The same Dave Gilmour was rejected this week by Glastonbury when he offered to play this years festival so he may be looking for something to do.

My wife & I saw Roger Waters twice last year when he was doing the Dark Side of the Moon live...it was much better than we expected...not nearly as geriatric as the Stones & Who have become. It sounded a lot like the album.

Hope Springs Eternal, a Pink Floyd tour would be historic....personally I would take a few weeks or a month off & follow them around to every show I could get tickets for.

BTW: There is another Dave Gilmour Blu-Ray ["Live in Gdansk"] being prepared for release and Roger Waters is editing footage from his 2006 - 2007 Dark Side of the Moon world tour for release but no Blu-Ray announced so far.

Is the Gilmour one confirmed for Blu-ray? I only thought it would be a live CD release.

Roger Waters puts on one hell of a show, seen his dark side tour 3 times the last couple years and was a great show. I have seen some of gilmours stuff on DVD and I'm sorry for those that hate on rw, but ill take going to a Waters show over gilmour any day of the week!

As far as them reuniting again, without question it will just be for the lucky folks in the UK like usual and only a show or two most likely. I would be amazed if they had any kind of stadium tour in the states, i don't think Waters and Gilmour can get along for that amount of time.

They should get in the studio and re-master Animals, The Wall and Wish You Were Here for immediate Blu-ray Audio release with 24/192 5.1

I hope they do an uber entire catalog release like Neal Young with Java tech. I don't care what they do with the the 5.1 track, all I want is 24/256 2.0 PCM.

I agreed, though I do not know what the last remaster releases are like, my original The Wall and Animals are not very good on CD. I have a Gold Super Bit Master of Wish you Were Here which is pretty good but the original CDs are not so good.

But I'll rebuy the entire catalog if they remaster and release them on BD

I can't say it is "confirmed" but I did read that it was headed to Blu-Ray in several different press releases.

Me too.

I saw Pink Floyd in the early 1990s [without RW obviously] and saw Roger Waters 3 times between 2006 - 2007.

Roger Waters is Pink Floyd....it's him, his personality, his id.

Gilmour has a great voice but is not emotionally attached to the music & it shows. His only connection to the music is monetary.

Just for the fans they should hit the road one more time...just like the song from the Wall states "The Show Must Go On" well it should.

And bring Annie Lennox for "The Great Gig In The Sky" live it would be to f*****g much.

Expected in 2008: Wish You Were Here SACD (Super Audio CD)

One of the most anticipated releases, that is still not on a confirmed release footing, is the Super Audio CD (SACD) of Wish You Were Here. This has been promised for some time, and indeed, in Storm Thorgerson's latest edition of Mind Over Matter, he showcases the artwork for the release which he states "is due in February 2008". However, this date is NOT confirmed, and this is the latest information we have on this. As we get further information on this, we will update this page.
