Default Is it film or is it game?

Lately I have been looking at quite a few flat-panel TVs. On some of the TVs, which display movies like "PotC: Dead Man's Chest", I notice something kind of weird. One TV would have this movie on, and it looks a lot more like a video game than it does an actual film.
Bill Hunt (of The Digital Bits), in his infinite wisdom, talks about the importance of a film LOOKING like honest-to God film when we watch movies (particularly in Hi Def). But, again, some of these TVs (I don't know who makes them, but one of them was a rather big Sony XBR LCD) display the images in a way that makes them look more like really tricked-out PS3 games ("graphic" motion look) than a film with touches of grain in them.
What's up?

Jodi

That's the motionflow feature on the 120hz sets. You can turn it off.

It's not the 120hz. It's the motionflow technology. There's a difference. There's a great thread about this in here somewhere...

*edit* Here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=33838 It's a sticky!

No, it is a smoothing feature available on 120Hz TVs. Sony calls it Motion Flow, Samsung's is Movie Plus, Sharp's is TrueD, and Toshiba's is Film Stabilization.

No, it's a feature that's available on a 120hz set. You can turn it off and it still refreshes at 120 hz. Just because the set is 120hz doesn't mean the motion feature is active.
