Default Introducing Qore: A Playstation Network Service

Playstation Blog
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~3/303598073/
"Today we are announcing that Qore: Presented by the PLAYSTATION Network, a highly interactive, monthly lifestyle gaming program covering the world inside PLAYSTATION is on its way to PS3. Qore has been developed to give PS3 users early access to game related content at a level of quality, interactivity and depth. Everything is filmed in HD. Qore will feature exclusive news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scenes looks at PlayStation games and special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content.

Our premier episode will be available on Thursday, June 5. The premier episode includes in-depth exclusive and never-before released content on upcoming PlayStation titles such as SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Secret Agent Clank, Soul Calibur 4 and Afro Samurai, as well as the latest Blu-ray Disc trailers, an exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation theme with an invitation to the SOCOM: Confrontation beta, art galleries and other surprises. We also know that many of you are big fans of Veronica Belmont, the widely-known host of numerous online video programs and podcasts and an avid gamer, so we’ve chosen her to be your host.

To get Qore, simply log onto PSN and go to the PLAYSTATION Store, as you would purchase any other form of downloadable content. Once the single Episode or annual subscription is purchased, that month’s episode will be downloaded under the “Game” heading on the Cross Media Bar (XMB). Users who purchase the “Qore Annual Subscription” will notice only that month’s episode is available to download. The following month, the new episode will automatically appear in your download list. The introductory price for Qore is $2.99 for a single episode and $24.99 for an annual subscription of 13 episodes, using your PLAYSTATION Network wallet.

As Peter Dille mentioned in a previous PLAYSTATION Network post, the broader service and community initiatives launching on the PLAYSTATION Network this year such as Qore, PlayStation Home and the Video Download Service are all evidence of our dedication to delivering an all-encompassing entertainment experience for PS fans. Qore is the first in a series of planned original programming specifically created for the PLAYSTATION Network community and we hope you enjoy it."

PS3 Fanboy
http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/06/03/...m-for-the-psn/
"Speaking in a new PlayStation Blog post Susan Panico, Senior Director of the PlayStation Network, has announced a new interactive digital magazine TV show called Qore. This will feature "exclusive news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scenes looks at PlayStation games and special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content." All content is shot in HD and a new episode will be made available every month.

The first issue of Qore, which will be released this Thursday, comes packed with exclusive content for games such as SOCOM Confrontation (including an invitation to the beta), Secret Agent Clank and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Qore is available on the PlayStation Store for a one-off payment of $2.99 per issue, or for a yearly subscription fee of $24.99 for 13 issues. Check out the video above to see Qore in action. If you want more info, be sure to check out the PlayStation Blog post. We're looking forward to checking it out this Thursday.

There's no word on whether this will be released outside of America, but we have contacted Sony Europe to get an answer either way. [UPDATE] Our SCEE rep has sadly informed us that "Qore is an SCEA only initiative at this time". How disappointing. "

seems very interesting, don't know how interactive it can be, but a regular Playstation show can be nice.

but ...

it costs money!

and I'm European and I can't pay on the US store!!!

From the sound and look of it, I think it's going to be an application with embedded videos.

It would be like a tv show made in hd by sony, that had "perks" for watching.

If you will.. im also not sure if im sold on this we shall see what happens.

But perhaps a tv show could be interesting... might be better then a magazine.

Another cool option, this will be huge for one simple reason;

"an exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation theme with an invitation to the SOCOM: Confrontation beta, art galleries and other surprises."

Socom Beta invite will get 20k purchases on that alone, and I am one.

I'd try an issue if Europe had access or a similar digital magazine.

The cost is cheaper then a real magazine I dunno..

Might try it when it comes out Thursday something cool to watch with friends.

With the annual subscription price its $1.92 a episode, 2.99x13=38.87 vs 24.99 for annual.

$13.88 savings.

Doubtful there's as much content though.

Quote:
Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced an exclusive development agreement with Future US, Inc., publisher of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, to introduce Qore, "a highly interactive, monthly original program that covers the world inside PlayStation," to the PlayStation 3 on June 5. The "interactive online magazine" term that was first trademarked by Sony a few weeks ago seems to be a fitting description of the program slash show, which will provide subscribers with a monthly dose of "exclusive multimedia news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scene looks at the hottest PLAYSTATION games," as well as special game demos, betas, add-ons and other interactive tidbits.

Now, you'll have noted the word, "subscribers," in the previous paragraph. The first episode of Qore will be available on the PlayStation Store for the "introductory price" of $2.99, with annual subscriptions (providing 13 episodes) costing $24.99. For a limited time, annual subscribers will also receive a free copy of David Jaffe's Calling All Cars.

Sony labels Qore as "truly interactive," stating that members will be able to access and view the content as they wish, with multiple windows, picture-in-picture and other features altering the presentation. Oh, and it's hosted by our favorite high school detective and vampire slayer, Veronica Belmont. See for yourself in a preview video after the break.

The first episode of Qore will feature "exclusive and never-before released content" on several upcoming PS3 games, including SOCOM:US. Navy SEALs Confrontation, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Secret Agent Clank, Soul Calibur 4 and Afro Samurai. It will also include a SOCOM: Confrontation theme, art galleries and an invitation to the shooter's upcoming beta.

Update: A SCEE rep has told PS3 Fanboy that Qore "is an SCEA only initiative at this time."

Don't know if it'll cost anything but Europe's getting Movement

Quote:
Movement, a brand new PlayStation initiative "that will introduce PS3 owners to some great new unsigned acts from across Europe. Our hosts Spencer and Martin will be tracking down the hottest sounds across the continent in their VW Combi and uploading performances and travelogue footage from their tour onto the PLAYSTATION Network."
Not really my thing.

Yeah I think ill stick with stuff about playstation or blu-ray... I do not have any aspirations of music or watching a tv show of people wander around the country side looking for people that can sing...

My thing is, you can look at $2 either way, a good deal or just something that is small enough to ignore. Why two dollars? What is that saying? We think the content is good enough to charge for, but not worth more than $2? Sounds like one can possibly do without spending their money...I don't know, I will just wait until the games come out that they are asking money for to see and hear about now, and then pay for those games if I want them.

2.99 a episode roughly 1/2 the price of a real magazine except game magazines , its a justifiable price of course its cheaper if you with a subscription but thats normal.

I might just subscribe just for heck of it, ill see if I have the cash first.. I can forgo some playstation magazines.

Sounds interesting, cheaper than a mag (most of them between 7-9 bucks these days).
Although can't help thinking that by accepting publishers like EA and co to put in some commercials for their PS3 releases this could probably be free ...
