I like the car that deforms the entire guard rail pushing it in. It reminds me of a turn on the way to school that was popped by someone.

Racing games rock.

Did you notice the way that the guard rail bent when the car hit it? Not that it happened, but the way that the metal deformed, much like the way that metal deforms in real life if the metal is hit with a lot of force.

I know about rally racing in real life, who wouldn't, but I have never played any rally racing game ever. I have played racing games where there was car damage, such as top gear rally 2 for the n64, but that is about it. Rally racing and f1 racing are the number two kinds of racing that are ignored too much because most racing games feature street racing or something and even though a racing game is easy to make because all you need are tracks and cars, very few are rally racing. The previews looked very good and I'm guessing that dirt will be like f1 formula grand prix championship edition.

yeah, the smash physics is what makes this game stand out. it looks so realistic. that will be awesome if every entity in the game is dynamic and can be altered depending on the vehicle, speed, angle of collision, etc. i would just spend hours crashing into trees and fences and watching it on those sweet replay cameras. maybe you could drive off a bridge and blast into a shallow river? that would be intense. on my 61" Hitachi, i am sure i will be yelling and swearing before i crash into anything.

I'll find out for you. I just went to ps3.ign.com and the release date is september of 2007, although an exact date was not given. As we get closer to september, codemasters will give us an exact date. Keep in mind, however, that only codemasters has any control over the release date and the game may be delayed once or twice. Some games have been delayed more then one time. Rainbow six las vegas and stranglehold are two such examles.

The game will be in my collection. I really hope that the game is optimized for the ps3 hardware as much as possible.

it sure looks and sounds like it!

from Colin's website:

Colin McRae: DIRT will deliver the wheel-screaming exhilaration of off-road racing with the next generation of the series’ sublime car handling and physics system and a devastating new damage engine that ensures players experience every bump in the track, every loose rock, every inch of shifting dirt through the reactive environments.

Lets hope that the game does well and recieves a high score. We need more ps3 games to get a score in the 9.0 range because Resistence is the only ps3 game so far to have a 9.0 score.

The 9.0 games need to keep coming in because it is based mostly on 9.0 games where the heart of the biggest blockbuster games lie and if we have a lot of games in the 9.0 range in the years to come, it'll show everyone what the ps3 can do and what you're getting for your money.

Why would you pass on a rally game in HD?
