Danny Elfman, Howard Shore, and Philip Glass are good/great, but Morricone is a freak.

Someone whose music I've been really enjoying and tends to get overlooked is Brian Tyler. His music is very eclectic and he seems to be able to service any genre. Some of his scores include:

How about someone like Clint Mansell who has done the music for all of Aronofsky's films (Pi, Requiem, and Fountain).
