It's a tie between Hook and Raiders of the Lost Ark I think (out of the movies he directed).

Hook eh? I was about 6 when this came out and I loved it! A shame it supposedly flopped? I call it underrated. As far as his best movie. I'll have to go with Jaws, Jurassic Park and Raiders. 3 of my favorites. Saving Private Ryan is also high up there.

I'm going to go with Jurrasic Park as I thought it was a great book-movie adaptation that held very true to the book.

It's been a very long time since I read the book, but didn't Hammond and Malcolm both die in the book?

1. Schindler's List - a true story few people knew before the film. A story that had to be told.

2. Saving Private Ryan - Groundbreaking. Set the new standard for the way war films are made.

Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List. I couldn't decide on one, both of these films are masterpieces and being a History major both felt so real and Spielberg obviously took these fims seriously and approached the topics with great care and craftmanship. I dont understand how Saving Private Ryan lost to Shakespere in Love for bestpicture, one of the all time blunders by the academy (of which there are many). These two films should be studied by film students for eternity. Will be buying both day one on blu once they are out

I was saying those were my favorites, not necessarily best. People forget there is a difference.

For me it's a toss up between:

Minority Report
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind

'Minority Report' is beautifully filmed and always manages to hold my attention from start to finish. 'Close Encounters' is such an epic film with a huge underlying respectful approach to Sci-Fi concepts.

'Jurassic Park' is my favorite, but only by a tiny bit. He has made so many movies that I love. Indiana Jones series, 'Saving Private Ryan', 'Minority Report', 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'.

I'm gonna have to go old.......... *batteries not included......It was the first movie I can remember watching in the theater with the family (didnt happen offen)

Money Pit, Goonies, Innerspace, Harry and the Hendersons, the first Back to the Future.....All classics, all running through my mind as I type this. Didn't even count any of his work in the 90's and beyond (or prior to 80's)....
