Default No Blu-ray movies @ Wal-mart

Yesterday I go to my local Wal-mart (Carolina, Puerto Rico) and I ask for Cloverfield on Blu-ray.

To my surprise, the guy tell me that they remove the Blu-rays because there is no room on the shelf for them.

WTF!!!

One of my two local Wallys has now done the same thing, whereas the other has switched to the "whole aisle and blu-ray display" configuration that some other folks on this site have reported. I certainly does suck if your local store has stopped stocking BD, especially in the light of Walmart's recent drive to make movies and players more accessible through their pricing policy.

Misleading thread title...

Just because they don't have room on the shelf for them, that doesn't mean that they don't have ANY. I've been to a few Wal-Marts across Canada and some of them had plenty behind the counters or in a stock room. You have to know exactly what you want in order to get any. Chances are they didn't have Cloverfield yet so they didn't bother to go into further detail.

Odd.
The two here have both doubled their blu ray section lately and are pushing them hard.

One of ours has also stopped carrying them (and I mean "stopped" -- they don't have them anywhere and say they have no intention of getting any in).

To be fair, the community I am closest to is not exactly an "upscale" community, if you know what I mean (in the old days the jokes about "blue light specials" would have been appropriate here -- this Wal-mart is about as close a clone to a K-mart as possible). I haven't checked out the Wally World in the opposite direction (which is in a better area and I would assume would have them). But on the other hand the Target located in the same lower class community has all kinds of BD discs so I don't know who decides these things.

Since I order everything (and I mean *everything*) from Amazon.com it makes no nevermind to me.

I guess it depends on where you go. The one in Jonesville, MI has an section dedicated to blu-ray (but doesn't have a good selection) which is causing the DVD section to shrink. The one in Coldwater, MI just has a 5x5 (5 discs verticle, 5 horizontal) section (but has a good set of discs on display), the one up here in owosso, has a good selection with a good size display.

You can forget about Meijers, they don't have shit for blu-ray.
