Default Tv stand question

I have a 52 inch lcd
i purchased a stand today at best buy
its for a 48 inch tv and will hold up to 300 pounds
my tv says it is 75 pounds

I am moving into a new house but it will take a month before im in.
I purchased the tv a couple months ago. plugged it in and watched it a little. i have the 4 year service plan also. But i put it back in the box
now i have the stand and dont want to open it until i get moved in

i also have a 46 inch lcd and a stand for it but thats the set up in my house right now which will go in the extra bed room when we move.

I dont know what the time limit is at best buy for returns. But if i open this stand and put it together in a month and my tv doesnt fit it wont be good lol.

i got the tv when it was marked down for a weekend a while back
and i got the stand today it was 80 dollars off

My question is just...does anyone have a tv that is bigger than there stand says...my stand says it will accomadate a 50 inch lcd
but mine is 52

there will be some overhang on the sides...but other than that will it be ok?

Thanks

as long as its not exceeding the weight limit, it should be ok.

This is the tv

The salesman at best buy said it would be fine just a little overhang on the sides
I just was looking for a second opinion
I dont want it to be easily knocked off or fall off
the stand will be up against a wall in the living room

the only issue i can see is if you find the TV hangs over on the sides (the bezel, not the base) and it might dwarf the stand... otherwise i can see no problems

You should be fine. You'll have slightly more than an inch overhang on each side, IMO you want even notice it. The main thing is you are well within the weight limit of the stand.

When I got my old 36" Wega, it weighed 280lbs or so... can't remember.... and Best buy sold me "the only stand they sell that can hold it" of course this was years ago, and this was according to them..... when I put it together, the directions said that the t.v. weight shouldn't exceed 90lbs...

HA!! 90lbs, that wasn't even scratching the surface.....

Long story short, I gave the T.V. away, and it's still sitting on that same stand to this day.....

As far as yours goes... LCD/Plasma has made t.v. stand size recommendations tough, because an old t.v. would be too wide/deep, but now LCD/Plasma just sit on smaller stands, so as long as the attached stand doesn't hang over the T.V. stand you purchase, it'll be alright.

weight/size wise, you're fine.

However, I wouldnt recommend anyone to get a smaller stand or use a stand for a TV bigger than its recommended size. (just for the "look" reason)

I mean, you're fine in terms of the stand breaking, or bending, or etc.

Why not get a bigger stand?

I have a 52" as well, but I bought a 70" long TV stand. (check my sig) for only $299.

Yeah, it'll be fine. I have a 40" LCD on my TV stand that said it was made for like 24" SD TVs that are much bigger and heavier. Anyway, just to check my stand I stood on it after I put it together. It was pletty sturdy to say the least.

How about those stand that you hang your flat screen on? Say I have a 55" but all I can find are for tvs up to 50". As long as it's within the weight limit do you think it would be ok to use that stand?
