Default PCM Help

Hey Gang...got my ps3 a week ago. I'm good on playing dolby true hd and dts-hd ma, but tried my first PCM track last night without success. The disc was tears of the sun, which has 5.1 uncompressed pcm. Output is set to pcm of course, but when I hit select during the movie it showed it as 5.1 dolby digital. My Onkyo 606 receiver, on the other hand, read PCM multichannel. What's up with that?! It sounded great but I'm not sure I played the PCM track or not...

Have you set the Blu-ray movie to output PCM in its own menu? Sometimes the option is under 'LANGUAGES'.

yeah, if you do not select the correct audio in the movie menu, it will more than likely default to a dolby or dts track.

Maybe that is what tricked me...there was definitely no "audio" section under the movie's own menu

If you have the PS3 Blu-ray remote you can quickly change output with the AUDIO button under EJECT.
