Default Metal Gear Solid Japanese and English voice comparison

I have been playing a lot of Metal Gear latley, and then I was wondering what Snake sounded like in Japan.

Question

I think I'd prefer the Japanese now. Makes the story seem less... cheesy? I mean did you know the President of the USA gave Naked Snake (WTF) the name "Big Boss" after his victory over The Boss? I don't think even GW Bush would do something that cheesy.

Does anyone else feel like the whole saga is sort of suffering from the Lost In Translation syndrome? Or is it just me?

I think I prefer the english voices overall.

They're trying to create english speaking characters, so I can't imagine why japanese people playing english speaking characters would sound better than english speaking characters.

The male Japanese voices tend to run together. This is especially noticable when Vamp and Raiden are talking to each other.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I remember reading Hideo prefers the english dub.
The only voice that is superior in Japanese is Raiden. Only because he makes Raiden sound like a complete badass, like Snake. I still think english speaking Raiden is sick though.

This isn't anime.

It really does not make sense for it to be in Japanese. These people speak English and it detracts from the realism when they all speaking Japanese. This is one of the few cases where they should be listening to English and reading subtitles.

I actually want them both.

I will import the Japanese version if that version has English subs. Otherwise I dont think I will import it, since I dont understand Japanese.

I found out on Play-asia, that Hong Kong has both the English and Japanese versions available to them, so maybe the Hong Kong Japanese version has English subtitles.

it's always like that. another obvious example: Final Fantasy X, XII, Kingdom Hearts series (except Disney character - which still better in English)

The Japanese version sounds great but I prefer the English version. David Hayter does a fantastic job.

The original japanese voice of snake sounds badass though.

But I guess most of us grew up with Hayter, so ... english is 100% ok.
