No one wants to see the Robocop origin again. A GOOD sequel would be great. There are plenty of things a new Robocop movie could do.. tons of options and possible storylines. Why someone would rather redo an already told story is beyond me.

Both movies are classics and shouldn't be messed with!
I've only seen a handful of remakes, out the hundreds that Hollywood has made recently, that were actually worth a damn.

The only way I would entertain a Robocop remake is if it were directed by Frank Miller. 'Nuff Said

A robocop with today's crappy written, thrown together scripts to capitalize on a successful movie from the past....... would be TERRIBLE.

also.....

Anyone that thinks the "Ocean's 11" remake was better than the original should be beat with a sock full of nickels. (for you kids, I'm not talking about Ocean's 12 or Ocean's 13 being the "remake" )

Oh, yeah. There are. The newspapers, LCDs, cellphones and many others.
You just cannot watch SUPERMAN RETURNS and believe it is set in the same continuity with SUPERMAN and Richard Donner's SUPERMAN II (in wich the Fortress of Solitude is destroyed, by the way).
All the references are just homages. Singer filled the movie with them.
But, in the end, it is a reboot.

While not a sequel in the traditional sense, Superman Returns is a continuation of the events of the first two Superman films. Bryan Singer stated on many occasions that those films serve as the history for Superman Returns.

+1. The Ocean's 11 remake was deplorable (I don't even want to bother with the sequels). It scares me that there are people in today's society that actually enjoyed it.

Ha, ha, I thought both versions of Oceans 11 were great, especially the slow pan across everyone's faces at the end of the original.

The re-make definitley wouldn't have worked as well with all the musical numbers though.

If anyone wants to try and beat me with a sockfull of nickels, I'll be ready with a sockfull of cue balls.

=D

My guess is that they'd strip out the political commentary on Robocop, which is its heart and soul

If they want to remake/re-imagine, they should hire Ed Nieumeir(sp?) to write a new, modern version of Robo.

With the exception of ED209, Robo holds up today because its low budget forced them to shoot real for real whenever possible

Yeah ED209 looks awful.

The best thing about ED209 is the song "20 Seconds To Comply" by Silver Bullet.

Both movies are classics and should be left alone.

Edward Neumeier

Writer of Robocop. Its style of satire has become a trademark for him

I know... I was just throwing up a couple of "Neidermeyer's"

At least one was movie related!

I've said for awhile now that they only need to go back and make The Corporate Wars...the sequel the original writer a director were going to make before it got nixed for Robocop 2.

If they remade Robocop i guarantee it would be one of the now all to common PG-13 movies. There is no way they can make it any better without keeping it "R." There is no better line in any movie than Clarence Boddicker's "*****es leave."

Robocop Redux directed by Chris Nolan... Starring Guy Pearce as Robocop... NC-17 rating for sure....
