As much as a lot of us were against the $60 Tomb Raider, they clearly sold enough to validate the Sleeping Dogs one. And I assume we'll see the Hitman release soon after that if SD:HD does well.
I don't think there was a demand here for SD. There wasn't much demand for the game when it was originally released. To me this remaster screams of Huh? The only possible reason I can see for it existing is to try and make the series relevant for the sequel.

Well, there's a reason then. Also I read somewhere about how putting it out for free on Plus introduced it to a lot of people who for whatever reason missed out when it was first released.

Perhaps they are working right now on a Ps4 Sleeping Dogs 2 and this would be a nice way to get people interested who did not play the original.

I'm glad the game's coming out, and I already pre-ordered it on Amazon. It'd be nice if it was a little less, and maybe by the time it comes out, it'll drop in price like the Last of Us did. Maybe not.

Either way I'm getting it. I don't have a problem with the remakes and this is probably one of the few that involve a single game that I would pay full price for. Only because of the incredible amount of DLC that was included including all the SP stuff.

People mention the Injustice DLC but that was pretty much just characters, not actual story modes, if I remember correctly.

It was 6 characters, new STARS missions, a new game mode and a TON of new costumes. The DLC released for that was quite robust and the Ultimate Edition at $50 was a steal. I don't see how anyone could hate on that. I remember before release, people were convinced it would be $60 and would only contain the characters bc the MK GOTY was $60 and didn't have nearly as much DLC. Yet WB brought this out for $50 with everything included. Considering this was only a few months after the initial release, its not like the game had depreciated much in value either

Now that I think about it, I think I'm going to hold off on getting this til probably around Black Friday. I have it on the PS3 and can play it there, so there's no immediacy to it, and that'll give it a chance to drop in price.

Still getting this for sure, though.

Yeah, it was a good game, but with GTA 5 being remastered, SD wasn't exactly at the top of my re-release list (that would be an Oblivion/ Skyrim pack, or Fallout). Like you said, this is likely SE trying to generate more interest for a sequel.

Also a most likely reason is that Tomb Raider PS4 sold fairly well, and so they decided to also release another game that they released in the last several years that was viewed as "underwhelming" by their weird standards, Sleeping Dogs. Also if this sells decently, I can't imagine we won't see a Hitman PS4 remaster as well.

In fact I can't imagine that won't come out even if SDHD bombs.

I actually don't mind remasters at all, especially since game development time has only gone up as the resource requirement for truly next-gen looking games has ballooned. Hell, I bought both Tomb Raider and TLOU, and wouldn't mind trying SD again. It just doesn't quite scream "buy me!" the way GTA5 does and Skyrim would, at least in my opinion. The more games the better, though, as I'm also hoping that Dark Souls 2 rumor comes true.

I dunno, this *****ing about "so and so is a cash grab" just seems like lazy arguing, no offense. OF COURSE it's a cash grab. Everything is a cash grab. If there was no cash to be made, there would be no products. Or very very few products anyway.
Groo. Calm down, and read my other post. Seriously man.

TR did relatively decent I believe in large part bc there was nohing coming on the console at the time. SD is coming the same time as GTA V, not to mention sandwiched in between Destiny, AC, CoD, Far Cry 4, LBP3, etc... SE is crazy if they think they can replicate TR's "success" and that the response to SD wont be underwhelming like it was before. Fall is the worst time for a mid tier game to come out and a re-release at that? All those new major AAA titles are going eat it alive

They should be changing that back to sometime in October now that it's been confirmed and has an October 10th release date for the UK at least.

Wow, that screenshot looks a LOT better than I was expecting. I will bite at the right price, even though getting the plat on PS3 was a pain in the ass. All the dlc being included has me excited for it, and if possible i'll play that before any of the story.

I remember when I first started playing SD, I was definitely planning on getting the dlc. By the time I got the plat, I just wanted the game to be done so they lost me there with collectable overkill.

Wow, I'm surprised at the amount of negativity on this one.

There was a period at the end of the last generation where games looked far superior on PCs in comparison to the consoles. Tomb Raider was one. Max Payne 3. And so was this.

The surprise hit that this game was for me, when the potential of last gen games being 'remastered' for current gen was mentioned, Sleeping Dogs was the first thing I thought of. And the first thing I really really wished for. When Tomb Raider happened, I got even more hopeful.

The PC/Console comparison videos were obvious, and I knew right away I would re-buy and play through it again cleaner. I love the game anyway, and now I get something more along the lines of what I was teased with in those PC videos. And I get to chop of one more last-gen link from my PS3 collection.

One of the more solid comparison videos here:

http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/slee...s3-vs-pc-video

Sure, it's not going to out-do a lot of current gen games, but it's absolutely an improvement.

I played the PC version with the high-res texture pack. Trust me when I say this is one good looking games. Especially when it rains, the reflection off the wet pavement from all the neon lights is really nice.

I also don't understand all the negativity towards this. If you don't want it, don't buy it. This was one of the most underrated games last gen. I really enjoyed it. I will definitely pick it up when on sale.
