Paul,

Here's hoping the 3D is available in all 3D theaters. It would be pretty foolish to create a 3D version only to release a big budget movie in 3D in limited theaters. We'll see how it turns out. Thanks.

The quote about select territories and limited engagements is only for the IMAX release. It won't be coming out in IMAX in North America, instead, Guardians of the Galaxy will still be showing. Ninja Turtles will still be in 3D here.

That is good, thanks. This is being released on the same day as the sci fi action movie Lucy with Scarlett Johannsen (spelling?), which looks pretty cool. Guess I'll have to see them both and make time that weekend.

Hopefully he only wears those during his experimentation. The characters have the right attitude, so I'll give this movie a try. The 3D made an impression from the trailer, high medium 3D with maybe a strong shot here or there.

The shellshock over the turtle's nostrils has worn off, so they look okay to me now. The motion capture also looks very good. Hopefully this is a shell of a good action movie.

I think I am going to preorder the Amazon exclusive, it looks pretty cool. I grew up on the Turtles, so the nostalgia effect is kicking into overdrive.

Has anyone been to see this yet?? How was the 3D?

I thought it was great, both the movie and the 3D.

The 3d in the trailer was rather good./ The tower failing in particular was rather strong 3d. I shall rent this somewhere down the line, Michael Bay's name after TF4 is a no go cinema zone for me especially when combined with such a so so director.

Yes. Same here; life long Turtle fan since the original series. A for the 3D.

Previews:
Box Trolls 3D: 3D is mild. 6/10
Sponge Bob 3D: 3D is medium to high medium. 8/10
Big Hero 6 3D: High medium. I was wrong when I said strong 3D last time. 8/10

He produced it, but a different director did a great job here.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 3D:

From the first cut out style credits sequence, the 3D starts off strong, giving the impression of what is to be seen later on.
Stereo D did the live action conversion, and it was very well done, but nothing beyond high medium most times. Really good though.
ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) however, did the CGI 3D in most shots, and the 3D was spectacular whenever the Turtles were onscreen, which was a good 70% of the movie.

How good was the 3D for whenever the turtles were onscreen and during action scenes? A+. Spectacular 3D. Strong 3D layers and Strong 3D pop outs.
Lots of stuff flying out of the screen and the show stopper was the snow slide scene down the mountain following a big rig truck with the enemies in pursuit. The pop outs here were awesome too, stuff flying out of the screen often.

Being a long time Turtles fan, the movie thankfully lived up to the fun the Turtles are known for. Sure they may have changed the origin details a bit (here they were lab experiments later dropped into the sewers), but the story and pace of the movie was good fun, the turtles were convincing and had plenty of the light hearted attitude they're known for, Shredder was a bad@ss villain with cutlery knives that flick out of his high tech armor, and even Splinter was very well done. April O'Neil, played by Megan Fox, was very good also.

TMNTurtles 3D: 9/10
CGI virtual filmed 3D (ILM): 10/10. STRONG 3D layers that look phenomenal.
Live Action 3D conversion: (Stereo D) 8/10. High medium 3D with some medium layers.
Pop Out 3D: 9/10 During action scenes, lots of flinch worthy pop outs.

The 3D was awesome. Check it out! Fun movie too.

Just got back from the movie. I think part of the reason for all the negative reviews was because they did not watch it in 3D. This movie must be viewed in 3D. The story is ok, the acting is ok, but the movie truly shines in 3D.

I would recommend it to all 3D fans, because they did great work with the technology. When you are being wowed by awesome 3D you aren't thinking about plot holes in the movie.

Trailers:
Interstellar - 2D, same trailer that been out for the past few months.
Penguins of Madagascar - 3D looks good, let's hope it matches Madagascar 3.
The Boxtrolls - looks to be a British film, nothing special
Big Hero 6 - same trailer that has been shown, 3D looks good.
Sponge Bob - the 3D in the trailer was pretty dam good.

Still no Hobbit 3D for me.

Cool. Yeah, the 3D in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 was something special. I didn't expect it to be this great.

Sponge Bob's trailer was good, though I wish they kept them in the cel shaded style for the whole movie, as it looked cool in 3D.

Penguins 3D, I forgot about that one. The skit with the cheese doodles was funny while the dog was talking and the penguin kept crunching away. 3D looks very good though I wonder if it can match Madagascar 3 if this is a different team working on it.

Hobbit 3's 3D was looking very good when I saw it before Guardians. Trailer looks cool too. You will likely enjoy it.

The movie opened about $20 million above projections and Paramount has already announced a sequel for 2016. Good news for those who liked it. I'll probably be seeing it tomorrow.

I was really impressed with the 3D throughout most of this movie. As soon as you start wondering if the layering is slacking, something goes flying right thru the screen. Decent fighting and action scenes here. The only complaint is that Megan Fox was very PG13 ish. So hot though!

Great news about the wonderful 3D. Can't wait to check it out. I'm glad it's a fun action movie too and that it has had a great opening weekend. Too many wannabe franchise starters have bombed in recent years.

YES!!!!! That had some of the best 3d I've ever seen! Very creative and immersive! The 3d was excellent overall for almost the whole film with very clear and strong layers with wonderful dimension imo.

Saw this with my fiancée opening weekend and we had a really good time. Story was a little basic, but the simplicity I thought was one of it's strengths. It's really about reintroducing the turtles and creating a badass action movie and they've largely succeeded quite marvelously at times. Shredder in particular was awe inspiring and mega badass to me. Wonderful antagonist and the redesign was killer!

That is good news, thanks. I would see the sequel in 3D for certain.

Nice. Yeah, I liked her here and she did a nice job with her range of emotions in her role. I was wondering how it would end with her and they answered the question very well in the last scene.

Yes. The 3D is off the charts for the CGI. Strong 3D kept me glued to the screen. If you're familiar with the TMNTurtles, this is very recommended.

They did justice to the franchise and I'm glad it did well. I spoke to a few people who saw it and they were happy with it. The theater I was in was clapping at the end. The end credits song was pretty cool too.

Nice. Yeah, the story was easy to follow, Shredder did not disappoint and that snow scene was A+ in 3D. Wow.

3 times, that is something. I've done that a few times in my life also and it's fun when you love the movie you're watching. Yes, definitely consider a smaller, affordable 3DTV or when 4K TVs get lower in price, picking up a 4K3DTV in a couple years or so.

The 3D in this is so good that I'll be sure to buy the 3D Blu Ray, but also because they paid respect to the Turtle Gang, Splinter and Shredder. I can't imagine a Turtle movie without Shredder, so the ending
[Show spoiler] leaves a big clue that it's not all over for Shredder for part 2 hopefully, having worn that heavy duty armor in his tribute fall to Jack Nicholson's Joker, falling from the balcony and smashing into the pavement also.
That was a cool end.
