I found out too late to see this that it was suffering from Fight Club syndrome. Trailer makes it look like a piece of crap, but it's good

I actually thought the trailer looked very good myself... and was kind of hoping for a Blu-ray release. It probably won't be a day & date buy though due to the amount of money I'm spending on TV releases during August and September, but I'll probably pick it up after the first of the year...

can't wait... how does the trailer make it look like a piece of crap? it's nice to see a martial arts movie that doesn't look like something from haim saban.

I don't believe this is a martial arts film... at least, it didn't appear that way to me from the trailer.

It looked more like a drama/mystery.

I can't wait for this one. An all-cast including Tim Allen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Emily Mortimer, Joe Mantegna, and Alice Braga, as well as some brilliant Brazilian jiu-jitsu moves makes "Redbelt" a nice addition to my - or anyone's - Blu-ray collection!

I hope David Mamet has a commentary throughout the movie.

I really liked this film. It got lost in the blockbuster shuffle in May. Chiwetel Ejiofor gave a excellent performance.

Excellent news. It was actually on my radar but I never got out to see it.

Definite purchase for me. Sony gave me a couple great smaller movies on Blu last year in August with The Lookout and The Lives of Others. Looks like it'll be the same this August with Redbelt and The Counterfeiters.

"The Lookout" was Disney (Miramax if I'm not mistaken).

I'm a big MMA fan and am sorry I missed this in the theater.

I'm sure it's no NEVER BACK DOWN, but hey, what can you do? Until they make the sequel masterpiece STILL MAKE SURE YOU AREN'T BACKING DOWN, then Redbelt will have to do.

it's a story about modern day bushido... it tries to lay down the difference between learning martial arts for defense as opposed for sport. fighting for honor rather than for money. as a student of bjj i found this to be a very inspiring movie... because it has a very real message.

no, it's not a martial arts movie in the meme of bloodsport, never back down, ninja turtles, or rumble in the bronx... it's more realistic.
