Default Should I use HDMI or compoments with my analog CRT?

I heard analog should stick with analog to prevent the Analog to digital conversion, which can add artifacts to the picture. In my Samsung manual, they really praise the digital connection as the best connection possible for the TV (DVI). I tried both, & I believe the HDMI is a bit sharper.. But Before I did the comparison I thought the HDMI connecton would look better.. Maybe the Plecebo effect..

HDMI and DVI are both digital...or am I misunderstanding the comparison?

If you're using (going to use) a PS3, then use HDMI. Some features only work with HDMI on it.

Use components, you're right about sticking to analog if your set is analog.

You can't upscale DVDs though, but PS2 and PS1 games should upscale.

My understanding is that your TV can do 1080p with components. If not, and 1080p can only be done with HDMI, then forget what I said above and go with HDMI.

You may be right, but not because the set is analogue.

Either way, there has to be a digital to analogue conversion somewhere, and it should done in the best place, whereever that is. I expect it would probably be with the TV, so use HDMI, but that won't necessarily be the case if the source has a better DAC.
